My Marriage Really Suffered,' La La Anthony Confesses Personal Struggle That Affected Her Marriage

LaLa Anthony reveals a personal struggle that took a toll on her marriage for years, saying how her marriage with Carmelo Anthony "really suffered" because of it.

Being married to an NBA all-star is no easy feat, especially with all the pressure and labels that come with it. That's exactly what bothered LaLa for years, saying that she had to fight against the term "basketball wife."

Speaking to the National Basketball Wives Association Summit in February, she revealed that she felt mixed emotions about being called the term "basketball wife."

"For many years, I personally fought against the term basketball wife. I was so focused on having my own and not being known as someone married to a basketball player. And to be honest with you, my marriage really suffered because of that."

After realizing the heavy toll it took on their relationship, Mrs. Anthony has tried her very best to stop being affected by the term, and instead try to uplift her husband in different ways without having to sacrifice who she is, other than being his wife.

“I’m so proud to uplift my husband and not feel as though I’m sacrificing myself by doing so.”

LALA AND ANTHONY'S TROUBLED MARRIAGE

For two years, Carmelo and LaLa Anthony briefly separated to make way for each other to grow as individuals. During their separation, it was rumored that Melo fathered a child with a girl named Mia Burks, who named their daughter Genesis.

While fans have been noticing a resemblance between the basketball star and Genesis, Anthony never confirmed or even acknowledged the rumor of him being a father.

In December 2018, LaLa and the 34-year-old star reunited after calling it quits. The couple shocked their fans when they appeared in a charity event together in New York, proving that they have indeed given love another chance.

Now that the two of them have been able to set aside their differences and really work on each other's issues, they are now ready to give love another chance, together with their son, Kiyan Carmelo Anthony.
