Police Name Person of Interest in Nipsey Hussle Shooting, Release Picture of the Suspect

The Los Angeles Police Department has identified a person of interest in the shooting death of rapper Nipsey Hussle that took place on Sunday. A picture has also been released to the public to assist in locating the suspect.

Hussle’s life was cut short on Sunday after getting shot multiple times outside his clothing business “The Marathon Store” in LA.

After surveillance footage of the shooting surfaced, authorities have now put a name and face to the previously unidentified man who appeared to shoot Hussle.

In a Monday night tweet on its official page, the LAPD revealed that the case is now being investigated as a homicide and that the name of the wanted man is Eric Holder.

The tweet also comes with a picture, an official statement, and more details about where Holder was last seen.

“Eric Holder is wanted for Homicide in the shooting of Nipsey Hussle. He was last seen in a 2016 white 4 door Chevy Cruze CA license plate 7RJD742. Anyone with information related to his whereabouts or this deadly shooting is urged to contact South Bureau Homicide at 323-786-5100.”

In a news release put out by the department, the authorities announced that they’re “seeking the public’s help in locating the suspect involved in a multiple victim shooting which resulted in a homicide.”

The statement further claimed that Holder, the suspect, approached three male adults, one of them Hussle, and fired numerous shots at them in front of a business in a strip mall in the 3400 block of West Slauson Boulevard. Holder reportedly fled in a white Chevy “driven by an unidentified female.”

A MAN OF THE PEOPLE

Following news of Hussle’s tragic death, celebrities far and wide, including superstar Beyoncé, continue to register their condolences and pay tribute to the rapper that many describe as a man of wisdom who greatly impacted his community.

Last year, the Eritrean-American who grew up in the Crenshaw neighborhood of South LA, opened a workspace and STEM center for inner-city kids, per CNN, and before his death, had planned to meet with the Los Angeles Police Department today for a discussion on how to end gang violence.

MEMORIAL STAMPEDE

Hundreds of people gathered outside Hussle’s clothing store on Monday night for a vigil in his honor. The crowd was so much that the memorial eventually erupted into chaos and a stampede broke out, leaving behind multiple injured persons.

Hussle, whose birth name was Ermias Joseph Asghedom, is survived by longtime partner, actress Lauren London, and two kids. The rapper and London shared a two-year-old son named Kross, and he also had a seven-year-old daughter, Emani, from a previous relationship.

Hussle was 33 at the time of his death.
