NCIS: LA's Kensi and Deeks Are Related in Real Life as She’s Married to His Lookalike Brother
This year, onscreen characters Kensi Blye and Marty Deeks from “NCIS: Los Angeles” got married. However, some fans aren’t aware that the actors who play these characters are actually closer than we think.
The actress who plays Blye is married, in real-life, to Deeks’ real-life brother. On “NCIS: Los Angeles” actress Daniela Ruah plays the role of Special Agent Kensi Blye. Her onscreen husband, LAPD Liaison Marty Deeks, is played by Eric Christian Olsen.
In February, Ruah gave fans a hint about when the episode would air by posting the cover photo of "TV Guide" featuring her and Deeks. The pair were married on March 17 on season 10, during episode 17 titled “Till Death Do Us Part.”
In January, she took to Instagram posting a photo of the script linked to the episode. She captioned it, “The episode many of you have been waiting for…”
Ruah and Eric are actually in-laws. Ruah is actually married to Eric's brother, David Paul Olsen, who is Eric's lookalike and stunt double on “NCIS.”.
The pair tied the knot in 2014. They share two children, River Isaac Ruah Olsen and Sierra Esther Ruah Olsen. Eric set Ruah and David up together and inspired the start of their relationship.
Speaking about Eric’s role Daniela once said,
“Eric kept inviting me to friends’ houses that he knew Dave would be at. Then he stepped back and let whatever develop between us, and the rest is history!”
During a 2014 interview on “The Queen Latifah Show,” Eric opened up to Latifah about how he’d helped the couple find love.
He said:
“[Ruah] was dating this guy that was awful, and [David] was dating this girl that was awful, and they weren’t themselves. And I got to see [Ruah] at work and she’s this amazing, wonderful human being. And I know my brother, and he’s this amazing, wonderful human being.”
Eric added:
“But they weren’t themselves in their relationships. When they got together, because he came on to do stunts, I would say something nice about her to him and then say something to him about her. That was enough to kinda get them started in conversation and it became this wonderful relationship.”
The following year, Ruah also had an interview on Latifah’s show. She opened up about kissing her brother-in-law on screen. The talk show host asked the actress if the kissing scenes were “weird,” and Ruah admitted they were very awkward.
She stated:
“The obvious answer would be yes, but at the same time we’re so invested in our characters, and we’re so interested that the audience has been following these characters, and they’re happy with what’s happening on the show.”
Ruah continued:
“We’re kind of trying to stay faithful to that more than anything else. Dave is in the business, and Eric’s wife is an actress, she’s in the business, and I think everybody knows what that feels like.”
The popular Portuguese-American actress and her hunky stuntman husband started dating in 2010. After four years together, they tied the knot in a loving ceremony in 2014.
Before their wedding, the couple welcomed their son named River Isaac Ruah Olsen on December 30, 2013. Six months later, they tied the knot in Portugal on June 17, 2014.
Two years after their wedding, they welcomed their second child, a daughter named Sierra Esther Ruah Olsen, into the world on September 4, 2016.
While they may seem like the perfect couple, they have shared some dark times. In October 2015, Daniela reportedly had a miscarriage while nine weeks pregnant. When asked about the incident she said,
“Something like that hits you physically, emotionally, and psychologically.”
Some little known facts about the two stars of “NCIS” include the fact that in 2006 Ruah, won the Portuguese version of the reality show “Dancing with the Stars.” This was before she was cast as Kensi on NCIS.
Another interesting fact about the long-running crime show is that in the story Deeks, played by Eric, shot his father in self-defence when he was 11 years old.
43-year-old, David Olsen once revealed that he plans to work as a stunt performer until he is 45. Then he wants to open an academy for adrenaline junkies and adventure sports enthusiasts
