Did You Know? Mary J. Blige Has a Younger Brother Who Is a Platinum Songwriter
Mary J. Blige fans might have been too busy enjoying her music to realize that she has a younger brother that is also a platinum songwriter.
Music definitely runs in their genes, as aside from Mary, her siblings also have a knack for music. Her sister, Latonya Blige, was her longtime manager. Her mother, Cora Blige, is close friends with music legends like Missy Elliot and Angie Martinez. However, people barely hear about Bruce Miller, her brother who is 11 years younger than her.
Despite not being in the spotlight so much, Mary and Bruce are extremely close to one another. In fact, the viral video of Mary slapping her ex-husband Kendu Isaacs at a nightclub a couple of years back was actually because of her brother. It turns out that Mary was having the heated argument with Kendu because he got into a fist fight with Bruce.
The altercation only lasted a couple of seconds, as Mary was able to break the two up in front of everyone that night.
More on Bruce Miller
Bruce Miller, the brother 11 years Mary's junior, co-wrote Mary's hit song called "Family Affair." In the 2001 music video, Mary appeared with Latonya Blige, still not showing Bruce in the process. However, it just clearly means that Bruce would rather work behind the scenes than in front of the camera, the same way he's done that for decades.
Aside from being a platinum songwriter, Bruce is also a rapper who goes by the name Corason the Great. When he is not busy chasing his musical dreams, he is a dedicated wife to Cherie Amour, and two share a son and a daughter. Of course, like the rest of their family, their kids are already getting into music as early as now, too.
