Gayle King Reportedly Doubles Her Salary in New CBS Contract
Gayle King's bank account figures are about to double now that she is negotiating an $11 million per year deal with CBS News.
Although CBS has been trying to change up its morning and evening news broadcasts recently, they are keeping Gayle King as the host of "CBS This Morning." In fact, she is about to receive a much bigger paycheck than what she has been receiving.
Her new deal is a far cry from her current $5 million a year salary, and rumors are, $11 million could even be less than what she could possibly be getting in the future.
Weighing her options smartly
King was allegedly considering to move to another network, which is why negotiations for her salary have doubled. The acclaimed host made the move and asked for the best offer that CBS could give her, something that her best friend Oprah told her to go for.
“I said, ‘Get what you want. Get exactly what you want, because now’s the time. And if you don’t get what you want, then make the next right move,’"
Can they afford to pay off Gayle King?
Insiders from the network are now worried that they bit off more than they could chew when they offered to double Gayle King's annual salary. While the offer has been set up, the contract signing has not been done and the deal has not been closed.
People are now wondering whether or not the cause of the delay is because CBS executives are still trying to find an avenue to get enough money to pay for King's salary, which they did agree to double.
CBS had no choice but to grant her double the salary request because keeping King on their network was a priority for them. After all, their ratings soared at an all-time high thanks to Gayle's interview with accused sex offender R. Kelly.
Thanks to her composure, Gayle is now one of the most respected broadcasters in the world, and this has earned her rights of demanding for more from her network, especially since they will be getting a whole lot more viewers because of her.
