Meghan Markle's Son and George Clooney Share a Birthday
On Monday George Clooney got an early birthday present, as close friends Meghan and Prince Harry welcomed their firstborn into the world at 5.26am.
Although Prince Harry didn’t state their 7lb 3oz boy’s name during the announcement, he gushed over the birth of his “very healthy baby boy” which he called the “most amazing experience” while he smiled from ear to ear.
Amal and Meghan got introduced by a mutual friend before she moved across the pond and according to a source that spoke with PEOPLE the two share many interests.
After Meghan moved to the UK, Amal helped her settle in. “It was a very natural friendship from day one,” the source said.
The Clooney’s also attended Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding on May 18 last year where George showed off some of his bartending skills at the reception as a source told PEOPLE at the time, “George Clooney hopped behind the bar and was mixing drinks for guests.”
After the wedding, they spent some quality time with the Clooney’s at their Lake Como home in Italy. Amal and Meghan lounged by the pool and looked after the Clooney twins, Alexander and Ella, while George and Prince Harry toughed it out playing basketball.
Amal was also part of the small group of close friends that attended Meghan’s star-studded baby shower in Manhattan. After the bash, she treated her pregnant friend to a private jet back home to the UK.
Not only does baby Sussex share a birthday with the now 52-year-old George Clooney, but also with the former prime minister Tony Blair, the rock singer Bob Seger, and famous author Jeffery Deaver.
The newborn’s date also falls close to the birthdays of other royals. Kate and Prince William’s youngest son, Prince Louis’ first birthday took place on April 23 while his sister, Princess Charlotte celebrated her fourth birthday on May 2. The Queen also became 93 years old on April 21.
In March during an interview with Good Morning Brittain, George Clooney spoke up in defense of Meghan, who has had her share of “unjust” media attention since she and Prince Harry got together, as he said:
“I think it’s a little unfair at times when – I’ve seen it when the press can turn on you for sort of ridiculous reasons and for almost nothing, and it seemed to me to be a little unjust since [Meghan] hadn’t done anything except just happen to live her life.”
During a press panel earlier this year, Who magazine reported that George compared the way the media “vilifies” Meghan to what Prince Harry’s mother experienced and said, “She’s a woman who is seven months pregnant, and she has been pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was, and it’s history repeating itself.”
With the strained relationship between Meghan and her father, Thomas Markle Sr. it certainly added to the media attention. With baby Sussex now born, Meghan’s brother, Thomas Markle Jr. hopes that it can help bring the families back together again.
In a recent interview, he congratulated his sister on the birth of their first, but he also had some more serious words for her to contemplate.
