Fantasia's Brother to Have Last Surgery after Near-Fatal Motorcycle Accident
Former "American Idol" winner Fantasia Barrino has shared a recent update concerning her brother, Xavier Barrino, who has been learning to walk again following a near-fatal accident in 2017. Fantasia also revealed what she’d be doing in his hospital room.
Taking to Instagram, the singer shared a picture of Xavier in a wheelchair and disclosed in the caption that he was about to undergo his last surgery.
“I’m so excited, but at the same time, I get deep into my feelings when it comes to this one,” Fantasia wrote of her reaction.
JOURNEY TO WELLNESS
She further revealed that Xavier was in a medically-induced comatose state and recalled the progress he’s made so far since the tragic accident.
“I watched him literally fight for his life, and I’m so proud of how far he has come. He has always been my baby and my Twin. They have him in a comatose state right now and he has to be down for at least two to three days. I’ve always told him that his walk and talk would be different and God had to change some things around for him.”
POSITIVE ENERGY
“Tomorrow I’ll go and play music, open up all the blinds and bring nothing but Joy inside of that room,” Fantasia continued. “Energy is key, and I’ll let nothing mess up what God is about to do in his life.”
DANCE APPOINTMENT
The big sister added that she has plans for her brother once he’s able to walk, and it includes dancing to her new music project.
“None of us are perfect, but we all come with a Testimony and ”Boy” does he have one!” she observed. “Family First and when he’s up and walking he and I will do the Potato Salad Dance to my New Album.”
“Rise Up young Man and be everything our Father desires for you to do,” concluded Fantasia.
THE TRAGEDY
Xavier suffered severe injuries in September of 2017 after being involved in a motorcycle accident in Charlotte, North Carolina.
According to ESSENCE, doctors told the young man that he would have to learn to walk again, and his famous sister has been updating fans with Xavier’s progress from the very beginning.
MAKING PROGRESS
After asking the online community to pray for her brother, Fantasia shared a joyful update in March of 2018.
She put up a video of Xavier standing up for the first time in months with the assistance of their mother and an occupational therapist.
“My Father is Awesome @xavierbarrino I’m so proud of you baby,” Fantasia wrote alongside the now-deleted post. “You never gave up the fight I TOLD YALL HE WOULD WALK AGAIN AND I’M STANDING ON THAT “HE WILL” Father THANK YOU.”
Last August, Fantasia’s other brother, Ricco Barrino, posted a clip of Xavier walking up and down a mock staircase with his legs in full-length braces. Ricco noted that their sibling was “making leaps and bounds.”
Here’s wishing Xavier a speedy recovery with his final surgery.
