Fans were worried when it was announced late last month that Bryson had been hospitalized following a heart attack, but they can now rest easy.

In a statement obtained by ESSENCE and published last week, the legendary singer’s rep assured that he is in a stable condition.

Both his medical team and family are optimistic for a speedy recovery

“We are happy to report that Double Grammy/Double Oscar Award-winning balladeer, Peabo Bryson, is on his way to making a full recovery!” the statement read.

The rep also addressed Bryson’s canceled May tour dates and disclosed that they had been rescheduled.

“Fans who have purchased tickets are encouraged to call local box offices for details and instructions,” the spokesperson added.

The “Beauty and the Beast” singer himself took to Instagram yesterday to thank fans for their prayers and confirm that he is getting better.

“First of all, I have to say THANK YOU to all of you for coming together and praying for me!!!” Bryson wrote, alongside a video of him sitting upright in his hospital bed.

He added:

“I know and understand that we have a choice in this world and when I needed everyone the most, everyone came to together and said a prayer for my health and for that... I THANK YOU with a full heart of love and my family THANK YOU too!! I’m getting stronger by the day!”

Bryson’s team first announced on April 29 that the “Feel The Fire” singer suffered a mild heart attack at his home two days before and had been taken to a hospital.

“He is currently listed in stable condition and is awake and responsive. Both his medical team and family are optimistic for a speedy recovery,” a rep statement read at the time.

Here’s wishing the 68-year-old phenomenal singer a speedy and full recovery.
