Fans react to 'The Voice' Season 16 Winner

On Tuesday’s season 16 finale of “The Voice,” a winner was chosen. However, some fans of the singing competition were not pleased with the selection.

SEASON 16'S WINNER CROWNED

Maelyn Jarmon, 26, from coach John Legend’s team was recently crowned the winner of “The Voice’s” latest season. She took the crown away from Blake Shelton’s three team members.

Andrew Sevener came fourth while Dexter Roberts took the third position. Gyth Rigdon managed to be the runner-up of the season.

SOME FAN'S NOT HAPPY WITH THE WINNER

A number of fans weren’t pleased that Jarmon took the trophy with some fans feeling that Shelton’s team was cheated. A Twitter user with the handle @SandraNeubauer1 wrote: “#thevoice winner is....none of my favorites…”

Wendy Womack complained: “@blakeshelton YOU WERE ROBBED! #TheVoice.” Another Twitter user named Paul Emert lamented: “Dexter was robbed!!”

However, not all the fans were in disagreement with the chosen winner. A great number of them were actually thrilled that Jarmon took the crown.

Someone with the handle @Katyxmimi wrote: “Yasss! The rightful winner!!! Congrats queen!!!!!!!” While @bamadude328 added: “@MaelynMusic DEFINITELY the best of this season!!!! Well deserved win!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!”

HOW JARMON WON AMERICA'S HEARTS IN THE FINALE

For the finale, Jarmon began the episode by performing an original song dedicated to her boyfriend Johnny Murrell. The song was titled "Wait for You."

Later on the show, she teamed up with Legend to sing Nat King Cole's "Unforgettable." Her closing performance for the night was an emotional cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" which she dedicated to her father.

FANS EXPECTED OTHER SINGERS TO MAKE IT TO THE FINALS

Many fans were shocked when the finalists were originally revealed, as some people expected singers like Jej Vinson and Shawn Sounds to make it to the top four. The finale had a star-studded lineup of singers for the night including Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie of Panic! At the Disco. Halsey, BTS, the Jonas Brothers, and many more other artists took to the stage.

THE MOMENT JARMON WAS CROWNED

Jarmon stood-hand-in-hand as they waited for the season’s winner to be announced. Legend and Shelton both gave the two singers words of encouragement before Jarmon was revealed as the winner.

“The Voice” will return for season 17 in the fall this year on NBC.
