Kelly Clarkson Nearly Fell on the Red Carpet Moments before Singing the National Anthem
On Sunday, singer Kelly Clarkson was at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to sing the National Anthem before the Indy 500 began. However, as she walked down the red carpet she almost fell.
CLARKSON TRIPS AT INDY 500
A fan was on hand at the Indy 500 this weekend filming Kelly Clarkson, 37, as she arrived at the event. What no one expected, including the singer, was for Clarkson to trip up and wobble a bit.
Luckily, she managed to maintain her balance and celebrated by raising both her hands up in the air triumphantly and curtsying. The fans who were on the sidelines couldn’t help but scream in celebration and support.
THE SINGER MOCKS THE BLOOPER
A Twitter fan named Zoe Minton posted the clip online showing the singer nearly falling with the caption: “Graceful recovery @kellyclarkson … day is made that I got to see you!!!! #Indy500.” “The Voice” coach retweeted the video with her own caption.
She wrote:
“[Rolling on the floor laughing emojis] best part of my day is always revealing to people that might not know how utterly not cool I am. That [expletive] crack was hidden by the carpet man! #Indy500”
SHE SINGS THE NATIONAL ANTHEM FLAWLESSLY
Many of her fans took to Twitter to share how grateful they were that the star never got injured. Plus, her acapella singing of the National Anthem went off without a glitch and she received a number of positive reviews.
Clarkson honored the National Anthem by wearing a dress that reflected “The Star-Spangled Banner." She wore a black and white $2160 Temperley London dress which was embellished with stars.
CLARKSON SHARES ABOUT MEETING A FELLOW CELEBRITY
The dress was cinched in at the waist while she styled her blonde hair to flow and cover the sides of her face. She looked simple but radiant.
In an Instagram, she shared with her fans that she also had the opportunity to finally meet Matt Damon at the race. The singer shared a photo of herself posing with Damon and his wife, Luciana Barroso.
Clarkson’s husband, Brandon Blackstock, was also featured in the image. The musician captioned the post: “Finally met Matt Damon after sharing a mutual friend for years! Freddy, we finally met #Indy500.”
WHO SHE'S MARRIED TO
She and Blackstock have been married since 2013. Blackstock is legendary country singer, Reba McEntire’s step-son.
The couple share, daughter, River Rose, 4, and a son, Remington, 3.
HONORING THE MILITARY AT THE EVENT
Clarkson’s anthem performance came before "God Bless The USA" started off the main event ahead of the driver introductions. Then there was a patriotic salute to the military with "America the Beautiful."
US Army General Michael Xavier Garrett also had the chance to give a speech at the annual event.
