Martin Lawrence & Ex Shamicka's Daughters Iyanna & Amara Head to Prom in Gorgeous Gowns

Martin Lawrence and his ex-wife Shamicka reunited for their daughters' prom day. The two lovely young ladies donned impressive gowns as the doting parents sent them off to have a good night ahead.

Martin and Shamicka are proud parents of two daughters, Iyanna, who attended her senior prom, and their youngest child, Amara, 16, who attended the same prom with a senior date. The ex-couple documented the precious moments before their kids headed out for the night, and it was clear they were beaming with pride.

Shamicka shared numerous photos of her kids at home, with Iyanna posing beside her date in two photos. In the photo's caption, she proudly tagged her ex-husband, commending him that they "did good." She also made sure to clarify that her daughter's date is a childhood friend of hers and not necessarily her boyfriend.

Meanwhile, their little daughter Amara was headed to her first prom, and she looked a little bit shyer than her sister. While she looked beautiful, her body language just shows that she's still a bit hesitant as to what was about to happen.

One thing that's admirable about their family is how close they've remained despite their separation in 2012. Shamicka and Martin released a statement regarding their separation, saying:

"Martin and Shamicka Lawrence have decided to divorce. The couple has made the joint decision to part ways. Out of love and respect for one another we will continue to remain friends and raise our two beautiful daughters together."

Since their separation, Martin and Shamicka have continued to co-parent their kids, and they've grown up to be such beautiful young ladies.

Prior to the couple's marriage, Martin and Shamicka were a couple for 15 years before they decided to wed at their Beverly Hills home in 2010. Their ceremony was exclusive for their closest family and friends, which included Eddie Murphy and Denzel Washington.

Since the Lawrences split after just two years of marriage despite being together for almost two decades, it is quite clear that sometimes, marriage isn't for everyone. However, that doesn't mean they can't continue to function as friends and as co-parents to their children.
