The former “Fixer Upper” stars Chip and Joanna Gaines have launched the #ChipInChallenge on social media. According to images they shared on Instagram, the challenge is meant to raise money.

The husband-and-wife team wished to raise money again for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. According to their social media posts, two years ago they managed to raise $230,000.

However, this year they hope to raise an even bigger amount. Besides reaching out for help from normal citizens, the Gaines’ have also enlisted assistance from fellow celebrities.

"The goal is to raise a ton of money for those sweet kids."

So far, Jennifer Lopez and her fiancé Alex Rodriguez, Kacey Musgraves, Florida Georgia Line, Jessie James Decker, Lauren Daigle, Kevin Love, Taylor Calmus, and Drew Barrymore have offered their help with the initiative. The stars will individually post about the campaign on social media.

However, the whole thing has become a challenge for each star as the donations would be made under their individual names. The prize for the celebrity who raises the most money is the “ultimate bragging rights.”

Plus, they get to take home a trophy that Chip built for the challenge. In a press release, Chip’s representative said: “At the end of the day, the goal is to raise a ton of money for those sweet kids.”

The representative added:

“Every donation is tax deductible and every penny counts—skip your morning coffee and donate $5, or go in with your friends and do something bigger. The point is just to jump in.”

The campaign is already up and running and will end on June 11. The money raised will be used to ensure that families of children with cancer never receive a bill for their treatment, travel, housing, and food at St Jude.

When Chip first raised money for the children he promised to shave his head on-site at St. Jude if fans helped him accumulate a total of $25,000 in under a week. The goal was surpassed massively with $230,000being raised.

The television star stuck to his word and had his head shaved. The image he recently used to relaunch the campaign showed him bending over and allowing a patient name Lizzy to touch his bald head.

Chip has come a long way from the man he used to be. For the latest “People” cover story he confessed that he used to be a "selfish" single man who dated around aimlessly.

Chip admitted:

"I really wasn't that guy. I dated girls whose goal in life was to get married and have kids. They had it all planned out, but I was too selfish. It was about me and what I wanted to do, and I didn’t have anything tying me down."

Now he’s been married to Joanna since meeting her in 2001 and getting tying the knot two years after. They have five children together: Drake, 14, Ella, 12, Duke, 10, Emmie, 9, and Crew, 11 months.

And Chip clearly cares about others besides himself as can be seen with his initiative.
