Garth Brooks and Blake Shelton Pair up to Make a Bombshell New Single: 'Dive Bar'
Two of the biggest country stars are about to collaborate for the first time and give fans a brand new hit for this coming summer.
Garth Brooks and Blake Shelton sure know how to tease their fans. Last week, Brooks made fans curious with a sneaky Twitter post directed at his fellow country singer.
It read:
"Hey @BlakeShelton I heard someone found out what we are DIVING into (HINT). I am going to run down to @NancyOdell at #CMAFest to let the dog out (HINT)!! Here we go, pard! love, g"
Shelton's response was even more ambiguous. It read, "Just when I thought I'd seen it all... Then 2019 came along. Holy Moly." The comment section was filled with confused, excited remarks from fans.
Later that day, Brooks did an interview with ET and finally revealed the big news about him and Shelton. Speaking to host Nancy O'Dell at his Ole Red bar in Nashville, he said:
"Blake and I are getting ready to release a duet in the summer. He was fun. He came to the studio and just did a good old summertime anthem. It's called 'Dive Bar' and it just talks about spending your summers in the dive bars across America, and it's going to be fun."
According to Brooks, the two men, both from Oklahoma, have such similar voices that he was sometimes confused about whose voice was whose in the studio.
"Dive Bar" may also have a music video to go with it in the future, the artist said. "I don't know when the last time we did a country music video was, but you don't want to pass this opportunity up. It's going to be fun," he insisted.
The song is set to release on June 18, reported ET. It will be on Brooks' new album, "FUN." But fans can catch the two singers on stage together even before that. On Friday, they're set to sing their new song in Boise, Idaho for Brooks' show.
While his colleague is preparing to put out another album, Shelton seems to have given up on them. Speaking to ET back in May, the "Voice" judge said he "[doesn't] want to put out an album."
He admitted that he would probably have to amid pressure from his record company, but confirmed that it wouldn't be this year. "Do people care about [albums] anymore?" he wondered, before saying he was happy releasing singles.
Shelton is also quite happy with longtime girlfriend Gwen Stefani. The two were spotted visiting the Knott's Berry Farm theme park in California late last month. They were joined by Stefani's three children — Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo.
Everyone wore casual looks, and the couple had fun with their kids on several of the rides. The two held hands and leaned into each other at some points, clearly enjoying each other's company. Like Brooks and Shelton, we hope this partnership is here to last.
