It may be a surprise to some that Tom and Rita's little 3-year-old grandaughter Michaiah is the result of an interracial relationship between their son Chet Hanks and Tiffany Miles.
Little Michaiah calls Tom and Rita adorable pet names: ‘Pappau,’ and ‘Yia Yia’- the same names her two cousins call their grandparents.
Tom has two kids from his previous marriage to Samantha Lewes: Colin, 41, and Elizabeth, 36.

RITA WILSON'S BATTLE WITH CANCER
Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks have been co-chairs along with Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw of the Women’s Cancer Research Fund, raising money for women’s cancers.
But Rita never imagined she'd succumb to the dread disease. In 2015 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery.
After several months of treatment, Rita was declared cancer-free and has remained healthy ever since.
After her experience, Rita constantly reminds people to make regular cancer diagnosis to detect it in the early stages, when the disease offers the best chance of survival.
