Broadcaster Piers Morgan criticized and compared Meghan Markle to Kim Kardashian for charging taxpayers $3M to renovate her and Prince Harry’s new home Frogmore Cottage.

Writing in his Daily Mail column, Morgan, who is currently working on the ITV Breakfast program "Good Morning Britain," denounced the Duchess of Sussex after details of the massive bill surfaced recently.

“Harry and Meghan will never reign on the throne, and should therefore be treated in an entirely separate manner commensurate with their relatively lowly royal status."

He even compared the former "Suits" star to media personality Kim Kardashian for their lavish ways of life. He additionally accused her of “shirking” royal obligations.

“She wants all the Kardashian-style fame and fortune that comes with being a royal, but she wants taxpayers to support it," the 54-year-old wrote.

“And I wouldn’t mind so much if she didn’t then shirk important royal duties like turning out to meet the President of the United States on his state visit, just because she doesn’t like Donald Trump," he added.

"There’s a deal if you become a royal – you get the luxury and privilege, but you have to put the work in. When you don’t, public unrest follows very quickly.”

Morgan pointed out that Meghan and Harry were offered a Kensington Palace apartment next door to Prince William and Kate Middleton.

However, the couple turned it down. According to reports, they wanted both distances from the “fish bowl” of London and from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

Morgan said it would have spared the huge amount since the residence is already refurbished.

Several years ago, William and Kate also cost the citizen millions of pounds for remodelings to their royal home. But Morgan said that was alright on the grounds that they are the future king and queen.

“Harry and Meghan will never reign on the throne, and should therefore be treated in an entirely separate manner commensurate with their relatively lowly royal status," Morgan continued.

“But there’s a growing fear amongst palace courtiers that the couple think their rising global celebrity status entitles them to be considered as just as important.”

Morgan concluded: "Meghan has to decide if she wants to be a Princess or a Kardashian."

Earlier this year, Meghan and Harry moved to Frogmore Cottage after the makeover which took around a half year to finish.

The property was transformed from five properties into a single home for the newlywed and their child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, who was born on May 6.

The expense of the renovation was uncovered after the yearly royal accounts were issued.
