Nipsey Hussle's Mom & Brother Seeking Co-Guardianship of His 10-Year-Old Daughter
Nipsey Hussle’s mother Angelique Smith and his brother Samiel “Blacc Sam” Asghedom have officially joined the late rapper’s sister Samantha Smith in battling his ex Tanisha Foster for guardianship of their daughter, Emani.
Tanisha and Samantha have been in court for about three months over who gets to be named as Emani’s legal guardian, but the plot just thickened with Nipsey’s mom and brother joining the fight with an amended petition.

According to The Blast, Samantha filed the amended petition recently and stated therein that an attorney recommended the move.
Still To Come: Tanisha previously accused Samantha of taking Emani unlawfully following Nipsey’s murder; Pissed off
The documents reportedly state that Emani’s uncle, Samiel and Emani’s grandmother, Angelique “be appointed as co-guardians with Samantha Smith.”
The petition further notes that:
“[Samantha, Samiel, and Angelique have been a] constant and strong presence in Emani's life. They have participated in her care and upbringing since her birth. Since the unfortunate murder of Emani's father in March 2019, Samiel and Angelique have assisted in providing care for Emani.”
Nipsey (real name Ermias Asghedom) was shot multiple times outside his South LA store on March 31 and succumbed to his wounds shortly after. According to Tanisha, who was co-parenting with the late rapper, Emani was visiting Nipsey on the day he was murdered.
Meanwhile, Samantha’s amended petition goes on to argue that the request to appoint Samiel and Angelique as co-guardians is in Emani’s best interest.
“[The request is] a form of 'insurance policy' so that should anything happen to one of Emani's guardians, other guardians are already in place to continue in providing for Emani's care without having to return to Court,” it reads.
Recall that Samiel, joined by he and Nipsey’s father Dawit Asghedom, had previously signed documents stating that they believe the late rapper’s sister should be granted guardianship of Emani.
Samantha first filed for guardianship of ten-year-old Emani in April and has been showing up in court to defend her position, as has Tanisha, ever since.
Tanisha’s objection borders on the fact that she is Emani’s birth mother and believes the “Law and Policy of this state favors the protection of the rights of natural parents and their children. Objector has statutory priority over petitioner.”

Tanisha previously accused Samantha of taking Emani unlawfully following Nipsey’s murder and was reportedly pissed off in May when the rapper’s sister was given custody of the ten-year-old.
Now, both sides continue to battle it out in court for guardianship of Emani. They are due back in court on July 15th, Madamenoire reported.
