Chrissy Metz Opens up about the Upcoming Season 4 of 'This Is Us'

Famous “This Is Us” actress, Chrissy Metz has shared tidbits about the soon-to-be aired season of the comedy series.

The bubbly star is quite popularly known for portraying the role of Kate Pearson, an integral member of the Pearson family in the famous NBC series.

Since it's 2016 premiere, “This Is Us” has grown to become a fan favorite and has made its ensemble cast quite renowned.

The show is up for a fourth season renewal, and Metz excitedly discussed it while promoting the release of “Breakthrough” on DVD, Blu-ray and digital. She explained that the new season holds a lot for Kate, her husband Tony and their newborn baby Jack. Metz said in a teasing manner,

"I think we're going to see…what the teenagers have gone through and how the shapes the Big Three into adulthood. We're going to see Kate and Toby co-parenting and how/if that will change the dynamic in their relationship.”

Kate and Toby didn't have it easy in the last season with Jack coming a little prematurely and unexpected. Although he became well enough to return home with his parents, the third season left fans tensed up. However, Metz has disclosed that there is a lot to look forward to especially as regards baby Jack. Metz hinted:

“He is still a preemie, so we're going to see what that all means."

The 38-year-old star is one for the suspense as she continued her revelation, saying that the upcoming season is indeed full of the “unexpected.” Metz:

"What I'm excited about is it's unexpected, but also really important in the way that Dan and the writers have orchestrated Kate and Toby and Jack.”

The “American Horror Story: Freak Show” actress also revealed that even she gets surprised by the scriptwriting. She said,

"I'm an audience member on the show that I'm on.”

She went on to disclose that although it sounds unlikely, it is perhaps one of the reasons “This Is Us” is one of the best television shows. That is not too farfetched because the show is a widely acclaimed one having received ten Emmy nominations and many more.

Alongside Mandy Moore, Chrissy Metz was nominated for the Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actress. The fascinating thing about the show is how it is so similar to real life. Did you know that Metz’s character, Kate, is based on a real-life character?

One of the show’s executive producers, Dan Fogelman once told Glamour that he loosely based Chrissy Metz character "Kate," on his sister. The reason Kate's difficulties seem so painfully real is probably thanks to Fogelman's sister, who is a consultant on the show.

The fourth season of “This Is Us” will premiere Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. on NBC.
