'RHOA' Star Cynthia Bailey Is Engaged to Fox Sports' Mike Hill
Cynthia Bailey is now engaged to Mike Hill after the latter surprised her with a proposal during the grand opening of the reality star's wine cellar. Their daughters played a part in it too.
“When it’s right you just know it!” were Cynthia Bailey's new fiancee, Mike Hill's words when he announced their engagement on Instagram. Mike surprised the 52-year-old with a proposal during the opening of her new wine cellar in Atlanta and she tearfully said yes.
IT WAS MEANT TO BE A SURPRISE
The proposal took months to plan according to event planner, Courtney Aljinca who assisted Mike in making sure the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star would be surprised that day. Courtney was in charge of the preparations for the grand opening of The Bailey Wine Cellar and the proposal was the main highlight.
Cynthia may have been caught off guard by the proposal but she knew it was coming ever since meeting Mike on “The Steve Harvey Show” in early 2018.
THE PROPOSAL WAS A FAMILY AFFAIR
The popping of the question went down during Mike’s toast in honor of the winery’s opening with the couple’s children in on it too.
During Mike's speech, Cynthia’s 19-year-old daughter, Noelle interrupted her future stepfather and handed him a bottle of wine with a big question mark on it. Then she and Mike’s two daughters, Ashlee, 19, and Kayla, 17, held up cut-outs from a question that read, “Can We Be A Family?” At that moment, the Fox sportscaster got down on one knee and presented the reality star with a beautiful 5-carat princess cut solitaire.
A tearful Cynthia said yes as her guests who witnessed the romantic proposal chanted “Congratulations CHill,” adopting the couple’s social media moniker.
"I am so excited and in shock! I had NO IDEA that Mike was going to propose tonight! He and our beautiful daughters and Courtney got me real good."
THEY MATCHED THEIR ANNOUNCEMENTS
NGA photo from the occasion was shared by Cynthia on her Instagram along with her thanks and subtle delivery of the good news. "Thank u 4 all the love & well wishes," she wrote along with an emoji of a diamond ring. This accompanied a photo of her kissing her fiancé as they sat on a bench by the lake. Mike used the same photo to share the good news to his social media followers and captioned it, “When it’s right you just know it! Thanks for all the love and well wishes.”
CYNTHIA SAW IT COMING
Cynthia may have been caught off guard by the proposal but she knew it was coming ever since meeting Mike on “The Steve Harvey Show” in early 2018. Mike was one of three potential matches Steve presented to the divorced star who eventually picked the 48-year-old one-time-divorcee. They made their relationship Instagram official by August that year when Cynthia surprised Mike with a candlelight dinner on his birthday.
Back in April, Cynthia also let it known that she was ready to get hitched when she told Ebony, “I’ll marry Mike, for sure…he just feels right for me.” Once married to Peter Thomas for six years, she’d never thought she’d ever marry again. But she had a change of heart because of Mike.
Shortly after, she sparked engagement rumors when she shared images of her shopping for a wedding dress. Mike further fueled speculation though a cryptic post during their Jamaican vacation where they went parasailing and he said they were taking things "to the next level" and that "she said yes."
SHE'S STILL "IN SHOCK"
E! News caught up with Cynthia after her engagement and she had this to say in a statement:
"I am so excited and in shock! I had NO IDEA that Mike was going to propose tonight! He and our beautiful daughters and Courtney got me real good and I'm so happy that my friends and family were here to witness everything. Wow! I can't believe it."
HER EVENT PLANNER HAS SOME NEW PLANNING TO DO
Courtney, her event planner, likewise told the publication,
“It was a beautiful and outstanding moment, not a dry eye in the place. I'm so happy for the both of them."
With this pleasant development, it looks like Courtney will have another event to plan soon. Congratulations Mike and Cynthia!
