HOW DID THEY MEET

Roker and Roberts met in 1990 when she joined NBC as a general-assignment reporter. Not long after that, Roker invited her to lunch where they got to know each other a little better.

At the time, he was still married to Alice Bell with whom he shared a daughter, Courtney, so Roberts didn't think of him as anything more than just a nice guy.

EVERYTHING CHANGED IN A COUPLE OF YEARS

They kept talking for the next two years. During that time, Roker and Bell split up and he started romancing Roberts, who just thought of him as a friend.

Eventually, he managed to inch his way into her heart and proposed to her next to the Grand Canyon in 1994, on New Year's Eve.

They tied the knot nine months later at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, in New York City.

THEY RAISED TWO GREAT CHILDREN

They have two children — 20-year-old Leila Ruth and 17-year-old Nicholas Albert. Nick, as he is commonly known, has special needs since he was born with developmental delays.

Still, he managed to become a fine young man and a great athlete. Back in June, he won two gold medals in a swim meet at the Special Olympics New York Summer Games, one for the 25 yards butterfly and another for the 50 yards freestyle.
