Veteran music superstar, Tony Bennett, is slowly pushing towards his 100th birthday. But for now, he has seven years to hit the centenary mark.
"I FEEL LIKE I'M JUST GETTING STARTED"
The music star turned 93 on August 1 and took to Instagram to celebrate. He shared a photo of himself and his wife, Susan Benedetto, looking happy and relaxed.
In it, Bennett sat on a chair dressed in a blue shirt, and gave two thumbs up, while Susan, in what appeared to be a white blouse, placed her hands on his shoulders. The veteran singer captioned the photo,
"Wow! I'm 93 today, but I feel like I'm just getting started...spending the day with my beautiful wife Susan."
Bennett's comment section got flooded with complimentary messages, with most wishing him a happy birthday, while others called him a legend, and wrote about how much they love him.
THE CELEBRATION WAS AT A BOATHOUSE
The singer took the celebration to the Loeb Boathouse Central Park, and according to Page Six, he rode a public shuttle to get there. He was in the company of Susan, family members, and friends.
The news outlet equally reported that Bennett had at the boathouse, Spaghetti with heirloom tomatoes and red wine. He enjoyed himself thoroughly and took photos with fans who noticed him, and Susan.
The singer and the former teacher have been together for over three decades. They met when she was 19 at one of his concerts, and dated for twenty years before getting married in a private ceremony in 2007.
A LOVE THAT GIVES COURAGE AND CONFIDENCE
Despite the 40-year age difference between them, the couple has an excellent relationship. The "I Left My Heart In San Francisco" singer once said that with Susan, he found a love that gives him courage and confidence.
Bennett added that it helps him be the best version of himself, and gives him inner peace and contentment. The singer and his wife support each other in everything, including the former's close friendship with Lady Gaga.
When Gaga got her Oscar nominations in January, the man who got awarded a Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song in 2018, tweeted a congratulatory message to the "Shallow" singer.
He wrote that he knew the singer-actress could do anything at the highest level of artistry, and in other tweets marking the beginning of her Las Vegas residency, Bennett called Gaga "Magnificent," and "Triumphant."
Those words equally describe Bennett's life and career, and at 93, he continues to perform and live out the rest of his life with Susan.
