Jenna Bush Hager Jokes Her Dad Was 'a Little Mad' Her New Son's Name Isn't George
George W. Bush was a bit upset that her daughter, Jenna Bush Hager’s, baby boy wasn’t named after him: “My dad was a little mad that the name wasn’t George but [was] just kidding.”
Jenna Bush Hager’s first son was recently named Henry “Hal” Harold, and grandpa George isn’t pleased about it. The former president had his first grandson recently reacted to the name his daughter gave her baby.
“My dad was a little mad that the name wasn’t George but [was] just kidding. He said [Henry] was a cool name,” the host said on Monday’s episode of “Today.”
Before baby Hal was named, Bush kept teasing his daughter to name her son George, but even with the turn of events, he is still “over the moon” with his wife, Laura, to have a grandson.
“We had two girls. That’s all he’s ever known,” Hager told PEOPLE. It would “be nice for him to have a little fishing buddy as well.”
Baby Hal’s older sisters, Margaret “Mila” Laura, 6, and Poppy Louise, 3, are “just so thrilled that they have a little baby brother all of their own.”
In fact, the two gave the newborn their own nickname.
“We weren’t exactly sure about the name, but then his big sisters arrived, and they called him Hal Pal,” Hager said. “So we thought, ‘This is just perfect!’”
Hager has two beautiful daughters and one newborn son, whom she shares with her husband, Henry Hager. She was recently placed as a permanent co-host of “Today,” which marked a significant achievement in her career.
During her first official day at work, her husband and kids surprised the former first daughter on stage with a bunch of roses. Hager’s co-host, Hoda Kotb, said that she was a “perfect fit” and described her as a “real” person.
