Lauren London Remembers Nipsey Hussle on What Would Have Been His 34th Birthday
Lauren London paid tribute to her “beloved King,” Nipsey Hussle, on what would have been his 34th birthday after the rapper was shot and killed in March. Other celebrities including Meek Mill and Beyoncé also joined in the birthday tributes.
Hussle (birth name Ermias Asghedom) would have turned a year older on August 15, and even though the LA rapper is no more, his longtime partner made sure to celebrate the occasion.
London, who shared two-year-old son Kross with Hussle, took to Instagram with a 3-picture slide, one of which featured the rapper while another was of her giving him a look of love.
“Today We celebrate You, my beloved. Today we honor you, King,” she began in the caption. “We are to live in our highest vibrations today because that is how Nip lived his life.”
STRONG MAGICAL SOUL
London, 34, continued:
“We should encourage and inspire today because that is how Hussle lived his life. Today we should love and give truth because that is how He lived his life. His Purpose still lives on with us all. Ermias wasn’t a sad soul. He was a powerful strong magical soul. Today is the day we lift up.”
“Long Live My other half. My beloved King Ermias Nip Hussle The Great!” she finished. “I miss you. I love you. Still here holding it UP!”
THE TRAGEDY
Hussle was gunned down on March 31 outside his Los Angeles clothing store and died at the hospital from gunshot wounds to the head and torso. Eric Holder, 31, has since been arrested as a suspect in Hussle’s killing and pleaded not guilty to murder and attempted murder in May.
LOVE & PAIN
At Hussle’s memorial service in April, London reflected on their life as a family and the rapper’s devotion to his loved ones and community. “His soul was majestic,” she had said. “He was the strongest man that I ever knew; a gentle father, a patient leader, a divine light.”
“My pain is for my two-year-old that probably won’t remember how much his dad loved him,” she added.
OTHER CELEBRITIES PAY TRIBUTE
Joining London in celebrating what would have been Hussle’s 34th birthday was rapper Meek Mill. He shared a throwback pic of one of their studio sessions and wrote:
“Happy birthday to you bro. I know you somewhere doing some cool [expletive] feeling good!!!! #themarathoncontinues”
DJ Khaled, who worked with Hussle on his final music video before death, shared a similar picture with the late rapper. “Happy bday @nipseyhussle bless up,” Khaled penned. “The marathon continues.”
Using lyrics from her new song, “Mood 4 EVA,” Beyoncé also paid tribute to the late Hussle.
"The marathon will be televised for N.I.P. 'cause true kings don't die, we multiply, peace. Happy birthday in paradise," the singer added.
