Carroll died after a long battle against cancer at the age of 84, as noted by Essence. The famous actress was renowned for her iconic role as Julia Baker in NBC series in which she won a Golden Globe Award.
Also, she has been nominated for one Oscar and four Emmy Awards.
Carroll is survived by her only child, Suzanne Kay, who was born in 1960 from her first union to Monte Kay, according to reports by Inquisitr.
Suzanne's career is almost as remarkable as her mother's, as she settled well in the entertainment industry.
