Cyntoia Brown Defends Husband Jamie Long from Critics Accusing Him of Marrying Her for Fame
Cyntoia Brown-Long is clapping back at online critics who insist that her husband, Jamie Long, married her for fame and fortune. The author and former convict made it known that she won’t tolerate any disrespect directed toward her spouse.
Cyntoia has been through a lot, from being a sex trafficking victim to getting life imprisonment for the murder of a man who solicited her for sex at age 16. Now that she’s a free, married woman, she’s not letting anyone rain on her parade.

POST GONE WRONG
Cyntoia recently posed for a cute shot with her husband, but things turned nasty after she posted it on Instagram, and one user commented: "He just want the fame. Just watch."
"Let me be clear for once and for all: if you are here to disrespect my husband, then you are disrespecting me as well," Cyntoia shot back in a comment captured by The Shade Room. "You can say what you want, but you won’t do it on MY page."
THE CLEAR WARNING
She continued:
"Jaime (sic) is an incredible man and my BEST FRIEND and I’ve spent the past three years of my life with him as my rock. When you see him at my side, it’s because he is supporting his wife–as a real man is supposed to. If you have a problem with our marriage then you can kindly see your way out of my comments, and off of my page. I don’t need your negative vibes in my notifications."
CYNTOIA & JAMIE: THE BEGINNING
Cyntoia’s husband, Jamie, was a former member of the hip hop group Pretty Ricky before becoming a gospel music artist. According to ESSENCE, the couple met and tied the knot while Cyntoia was in prison.
Jamie reportedly saw a documentary about his now-wife and was divinely led to write her a letter and burn the edges of the paper before sending it. The burned paper, as it turned out, caught Cyntoia’s attention; she replied, and that was the beginning of their romance.
LOVE & FAITH
Cyntoia’s case famously garnered the attention of celebrities and advocates, resulting in her release from prison in August after serving 15 years. Since then, Cyntoia has granted tons of media interviews, always with Jamie by her side.
Last month, Cyntoia credited the "Personal Freak" singer for her newfound faith and relationship with God. "I met my husband in January 2017, and it was at a time where all my appeals had been denied," she revealed during an interview covered by BET.
Cyntoia added:
"My chances [of being released] were slim to none. He wrote me around that time and he told me that God was bigger than any sentence, than any judge and any jury."
AN EX-SPOUSE SPEAKS OUT
Cyntoia has since released her memoir "Free Cyntoia: My Search for Redemption in the American Prison System," where she provides more details about her relationship with Jamie.
Meanwhile, online critics are not the only ones skeptical about Cyntoia and Jamie’s union. The singer's former wife, fellow music artist Pamela Long, also recently expressed her doubt.
"May the Lord God protect her and her money," Pamela said of Cyntoia on a radio show. "It’s about who she is in the public eye and what she has. By her having this face in the media, it helps him to have a chance to be around what he deems as the elites."
"Mr. Long may be able to hide behind his handsome looks of being a good man, but God knows the heart," she added.
Cyntoia doesn’t appear to be concerned about the speculations, however, and according to her recent clapback, the sex-trafficking activist will probably appreciate people keeping their opinions to themselves.
