Taylor Swift Breaks Michael Jackson's Record at 2019 AMA Awards after Her 6 Wins
Michael Jackson's record AMA wins left in the dust after Taylor Swift walks away with six awards at the annual 2019 American Music Awards, surpassing the King of Pop by far.
Hosted by the multi-platinum artist Ciara, she kicked off this year's AMAs with her new single "Melanin" before Taylor Swift became one of the most talked-about names at the award ceremony.

TAYLOR PERFORMED HER MEDLEY
With a medley of Taylor's biggest hits over the last ten years, the Artist of the Decade Award recipient rocked the stage with songs including "The Man," "Love Story," "I Knew You Were Trouble," "Blank Space," and "Shake It Off" as Camila Cabello, "Lover," and Halsey joined in.
Held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, Taylor raked in wins in five categories. She bagged her fifth Artist of the Year award, extending her lead over One Direction and Justin Bieber's two awards each in that category.
BREAKING RECORDS AGAIN
Video of the Year for "You Need to Calm Down" brought Taylor another win while it also came out on top at the MTV Video Music Award in August.
The singer's win of Favorite Female Artist in pop/rock for the second year in a row became another record-breaker for her fourth overall win in this category.
Taylor is the first female artist to win Favorite Female Artist back-to-back since Celine Dion's wins in 1998 and 1999, and her latest win ties her with Olivia Newton-John and Whitney Houston for the most wins in the history of the category.
Being awarded the Artist of the Decade award brought Taylor Swift's career total of AMA awards to 29, surpassing Michael Jackson's record of 24 over the ceremony's nearly 46-year history.
OTHER RECORD-BREAKING ATTEMPTS THIS YEAR
During her acceptance speech, Taylor thanked her fans and fellow artists for "fun, incredible, exhilarating times" over the last seven years while she added that all they as artists want to do is "create something that will last."
However, Taylor's string of AMA wins is just the latest in her record-breaking streak. Two weeks after she released her seventh studio album "Lover" late in August, it rocketed to the top of the Billboard charts.
In addition to it being her sixth studio album to climb to the top of the charts, it also broke records for the most Billboard Hot 100 entries at the same time. Featuring 18 tracks on the album, all the songs climbed up the Hot 100 chart, breaking Billie Eilish's record of 14 songs.
TAYLOR'S LATEST COLLABORATION
Being hard at work, Taylor Swift also released the soundtrack to the much-anticipated movie adaptation of "Cats" earlier in November. In collaboration with Andrew Lloyd Webber, Taylor wrote the song, "Beautiful Ghosts" specifically for the film set to hit theaters this December.
While the singer stars as Bombalurina in the sequel, she doesn't perform the song during the movie, as it was written for Francesca Hayward's character, Victoria.
