THE "CARTEL" CONTROVERSY

Steve cracked a joke while speaking to Miss Colombia, Gabriela Tafur, in which he alluded to his legendary mistake in 2015.

Steve had mistakenly announced Miss Columbia as the winner of the pageant when the winner was, in fact, Pia Wurtzbach of the Philippines. Steve quipped:

"You've forgiven me [but] the cartel has not. They're not handling it the same way."

The joke was received with anger and outrage with many taking to social media to express their disapproval of Steve equating all things Columbian with the drug cartels. Diana Correa‏ wrote:

"Has @IAmSteveHarvey actually been threaten [sic] by a Colombian cartel? Can someone explain his “joke” at #missuniverse ? It’s not funny, it’s offensive. Drugs have tainted us with blood and pain. Be respectful and Stop joking about it!!! Stop the ignorance!!!"

MISS UNIVERSE IS MISS SOUTH AFRICA

Steve Harvey made no mistake announcing the winner of this year's pageant, Zozibini Tunzi, from South Africa. The South African beauty beat out Miss Mexico and Miss Puerto Rico to take the coveted tiara.

Zozibini is the fifth Miss Universe that Steve Harvey has seen crowned, let's hope she is not the last.

STEVE HARVEY ANNOUNCES RIGHT WINNER, BUT EVERYONE THINKS IT'S A MISTAKE

Steve Harvey was once again accused of announcing the wrong winner at the 2019 Miss Universe pageant. This time, it was the winner of the National Costume contest, which he announced as Miss Philippines.

Miss Malaysia, who had already been called up onto the stage firmly corrected him, but it turned out that Steve was right.

The Miss Universe organization later tweeted revealing that Steve was correct and that Miss Philippines, Gazini Ganados was the winner of the National Costume category.
