A MESSAGE FOR BLACK WOMEN AROUND THE WORLD
Now that she reigns as Miss Universe, the 26-year-old Public Relations professional and Anti-Violence Activist hopes to spread messages of self-love, confidence, and embracing one's roots. She also wants to become an inspiration for young girls around the world to grow up as leaders.
She was born in Tsolo, Eastern Cape, South Africa, and she's incredibly proud of where she's from. In fact, she dedicated her entire Miss Universe pageantry run for her beautiful country.
HER POWERFUL MESSAGE DURING MISS UNIVERSE
Speaking about what she feels is the most important thing the world should be teaching young girls today, Zozibini says it's leadership.
"I think the most important thing we should be teaching young girls today is leadership. It is something that has been lacking in young girls and women for a very long time - not because we don't want to, but because of what society has labeled women to be. I think we are the most powerful beings in the world and that we should be given every opportunity. That is what we should be teaching these young girls... to take up space."
BLACK GIRLS REIGN THIS YEAR
Gone are the days when it was rare for Black women to be given the spotlight. However, now that they stand loud and proud about their beauty inside and out, this year's four major pageant winners are Black.
Following Miss USA, Miss America, and Miss Teen USA, Zozibini Tunzi becomes the fourth Black woman to hold a title this year and the most prestigious one at that!
ZOZIBINI TUNZI'S PLATFORM FOR ACTION
While winning Miss Universe comes with luxurious prizes such as a $5 million crown and a luxury apartment in New York City, she is also given a wide platform to push for her advocacy, particularly gender violence against women.
The 26-year-old South African Beauty Queen hopes to raise awareness and speak to multiple organizations to finally put a stop to gender violence against women, and her fight towards such will be interesting to see.
