People: Gwen Stefani & Blake Shelton's Relationship Is Headed toward Marriage, Says Source

Sources have revealed to PEOPLE that Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are very much in love with one another, with their relationship headed towards marriage, although they are yet to tie the knot.

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are already four years into their romantic relationship and are ready to move on to the next step. However, one thing holds them back from going on with their plans. A source with inside information on Gwen Stefani said:

"Blake was very serious about Gwen right from the start, and early on he thought about proposing."

However, 50-year-old Gwen Stefani is a Roman Catholic and wants a Church ceremony for her wedding with her country singer boyfriend.

Despite that roadblock, Gwen and Blake are sure they are made for one another. A friend of the couple said about their relationship:

"It's definitely headed toward marriage... They're all very like-minded and comfortable with each other...Gwen brings this sparkle to the country world. Her love for Blake is clear."

Since their relationship began, Blake has acted as a second father figure to Gwen's three sons from a previous marriage to Gavin Rossdale, while they ensure their families are closely knit.

In an interview with ET, Blake stated that he used to be quite the "jerk" to everybody on "The Voice," but he has since learned to become a nicer person since he started dating Gwen.

Concluding, the friend said that Gwen and Blake fall deeper in love with each other with time and that their happiness quotient continues to rise.

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are never shy about displaying their love in public. The stars again got in on their PDA act as seen in a photo of them taken from the set of "The Voice."

In the photo, which Gwen shared on her Twitter page, she was seen sitting on Blake's lap, while he wrapped his arms around her. She captioned the picture with the words, "Forever #MCM @blakeshelton."

Gwen Stefani had had so much of an impact on Blake Shelton that the country singer once commented that he doesn't want to remember what he was like before she came into his life.
