NFL Player Marvin Jones Pens Emotional Post to Mourn Death of 6-Month-Old Son
Marvin Jones, who currently plays for the Detroit Lions, has taken to social media with the devastating news of his youngest child’s death. The tragedy comes just days after the Jones’ wished fans a Merry Christmas with their family video.
The loss of a child has to be one of the severest pains anyone can experience. Still, when that tragedy occurs during the holidays as families are rejoicing, it tends to hit differently. Sadly, this is what Marvin, 29, and his family is going through.

On Saturday, December 28, the NFL player took to Instagram with a smiling photo of six-month-old. “Yesterday, the Lord called home a piece of my family’s heart, Marlo,” he began in a lengthy tribute.
Marvin posted a video showing his older kids as they welcomed Marlo after his birth, and only a few days ago, the six-month-old was included in a video
Marvin expressed how difficult it was for their family to come to terms with the loss of Marlo, who he called a “fighter from day one.” “The joy that you brought to us every day, with that smile, and that energy was like heaven on earth,” he added.
Marvin continued to mourn all the milestones they would miss with Marlo:
“We will always remember you. We did not get the chance to hear your first words (It would’ve been in Spanish too). We didn’t get to see you run with your brothers and sister, you ran with them with your eyes every day.”
Marvin shared Marlo with his wife, Jazmyn Jones. The couple also has four other children, sons Marvin III, Mareon, Murrell, and daughter Mya. “We know that everything that we do from here on out will be with you,” the wide receiver added.
Tons of fans and celebrity friends have taken to the comment section of Marvin’s post with supportive words for the entire family. Fellow NFL players Victor Bolden, 24, and Glover Quin, 33, led the condolence train.
While no cause of death has been revealed for little Marlo, his death is bound to hit hard for Marvin and his wife, who have always been family-oriented. The former Cincinnati Bengals player is fond of documenting family moments on social media.
Back in July, Marvin posted a video showing his older kids as they welcomed Marlo after his birth, and only a few days ago, the six-month-old was included in a video of the family wearing matching pajamas and wishing fans a Merry Christmas.
“Marvin and Jazmyn embody the true meaning of family, and the example they set has made them an inspiration to so many in our community,” the Lions said in a statement per Hollywood Life. “We thank everyone for the outpouring of support.”
According to CNN, Marvin played in nine games for the Lions this year before an ankle injury in December ended his season. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Jones family during this difficult time.
