Singer Gerald Levert's Mother, Martha Levert Has Passed Away

The mother of the late Gerald Levert has passed away, as announced by her granddaughter Carlysia right after ringing in the new year.

Martha Levert, who is the mother to two soul singers, Gerald and Sean Levert, has passed away with her cause of death undisclosed.

THE SAD ANNOUNCEMENT

Her granddaughter Carlysia made sure to write about her death on social media, paying tribute to the angel she just gained.

“Heaven gained another Angel this morning… Granny, I love you. I will miss you. I thank God I got to talk to you a week ago… and I thank him for all of our memories that I will forever cherish. You get to be reunited with both of your sons my daddy and uncle Sean… and We gained another Angel!”

REMEMBERING THE LEVERT FAMILY

Martha Levert was married to O'Jays singer Eddie Levert, and together they shared two sons, the late Gerald and Sean Levert who both became soul singers just like their father, and a daughter named Kandice.

She survived having to cope with the death of her two sons, who died just two years apart. Gerald died in 2006 when he was only 40 years old, while Sean passed away in 2008 at 39.

ON MARTHA BEING AN "ANGEL ON EARTH"

In a book written by her son Gerald and her husband Eddie entitled "I Got Your Back: A Father and Son Keep it Real About Love, Fatherhood, Family, and Friendship," he wrote that his mother was an angel on Earth.

“Maybe that’s what makes it hard for the other women in my life. I expect them to be on mom’s level. That’s probably not very realistic. She’s strong, though. She took a lot of stuff from dad. I mean it was never physical abuse, but it was a lot of raising kids when he was on the road.”

REMEMBERING GERALD LEVERT

Recently, after the 12th anniversary of Gerald Levert's death, his daughter Camryn paid tribute to him by releasing a song dedicated to him.

Like her father, Camryn has had a knack for singing since she was 5, and has decided to try and make a career out of it beginning 2017. About the song she wrote about her dad, she said:

“I Miss You is a dedication song I wrote about my dad Gerald Levert, and for anyone out there who lost someone they love dearly. November 10th, 2018 will be the 12th year anniversary of my dad’s passing, and I felt it was necessary to let out bottled emotions in this song for him.”

Martha and the Levert boys are survived by her daughter Kandice and her grandchildren. Despite not being with their family members anymore, they continue to celebrate them in any way they can.
