Tyler Perry is a man who works hard. He produces, acts and directs most of his projects himself, and now he's revealed he does all of the writing too.

Perry's declaration that he writes the scripts for his hit shows "The Haves and The Have Nots", "The Oval", "Assisted Living", "Sistas", "Young Dylan", "House of Payne", "Ruthless" and "Bruh." on his own without the assistance of a writing team roused a wave of protest.

Critics slammed Perry, claiming that he is failing to give young hopefuls a chance

TYLER PERRY - A BRILLIANT SOLO ACT

In the video clip's voice-over, Perry explained that he doesn't work with a writer's room and does all the writing for his series on his own.

This is a massive undertaking, considering all the other work he has on hand, running a studio, and pursuing his film projects in tandem with his on-going hit TV series. He said:

"Most of the time, there are 10 people, 12 or whatever that write on these television shows. Well, I have no writers room. Nobody writes any of my work. I write it all.”

TYLER PERRY RESPONDS TO CRITICS

Perry explained that he had at one stage had a writer's room, but that the experience had been a nightmare. His ratings dropped steeply, as the stories being produced were out of touch with his audience's tastes.

Perry revealed that although he works alone on "The Haves and The Have Nots", "The Oval", "Assisted Living", "Sistas", "Young Dylan", "House of Payne", "Ruthless" and "Bruh," he produces many other shows at his studios.

These shows, he explained, do have writers' rooms, in which he has many talented writers.

Perry assured his critics that he is determined to give new talent lots of opportunities to shine, especially if they have the sterling work ethic he prizes and brings to everything he does.

THE LAND TYLER PERRY'S STUDIO IS BUILT ON HAS A DARK HISTORY

Tyler Perry received the Icon Award at the 2019 BET Awards, and in his acceptance speech, he revealed that the land on which he built his studio has a dark history.

The 330-acre once contained Fort McPherson, a Confederate Army base during the Civil War - a war fought to keep African Americans in servitude.

More than 150 years later, the land is the property of a black man and the site of 12 sound stages for movie productions named after 12 iconic African American entertainers.

Tyler Perry has made history and evened out the score...
