Miley Cyrus Celebrates Dolly Parton's 74th Birthday & Posts Videos Dressed up as the Country Legend

On Sunday, January 19, 2020, Miley Cyrus took to social media to pay tribute to her godmother. Country music legend Dolly Parton officially turned 74 over the weekend.

Taking to Instagram, Cyrus celebrated Parton’s birthday by dressing up as the iconic star, wig and big breasts included. Billy Ray Cyrus’s daughter dressed up in a black outfit and could be seen applying lipstick while looking in a mirror.

Her second video showed her pouting and hilariously shaking her fake breasts. It’s believed that the two clips were probably taken during Cyrus’s October 24, 2017, appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

Cyrus impersonates Dolly Parton

During the episode, the pop singer dressed up as Parton while Jimmy Fallon posed as Kenny Rogers. The two then recreated the country stars’ duet, “Islands in the Stream.”

The third video that Cyrus posted was a snippet from that performance alongside the original one by Parton and Rogers from 1983. The young singer captioned her post by writing: Happy Birthday Aunt Dolly!!!!!”

Celebrating Parton’s birthday

Parton’s goddaughter also took to her Instagram Stories to celebrate the country star further. She posted photos of her and the star and wrote:

“Happy birthday to the woman who taught me how to glue down a lace front …. I’ll love you forever Aunt Dolly @dollyparton!!!!!!!”

Other stars who paid tribute to the star

Billy Ray also honored the country music legend by posting a black and white throwback image that featured him posing with Parton. Professional dancer and television personality Julianne Hough also paid tribute to Parton on her special day.

Hough worked with the singer in “Dolly Parton's Heartstrings.” The well-wishes didn’t go unnoticed by the legendary musician, she responded via social media.

Taking to Instagram, Parton posted a video thanking everyone for the messages. She also posted several snippets of the messages she’d gotten.

Cyrus and Parton’s godmother/daughter relationship only became public knowledge in 2013. The country singer revealed the news during an interview with Anderson Cooper.

What makes the country star special

In the same year, Cyrus opened up about one of the things she found special about Parton. She shared that she liked how her godmother had the tendency to “say it like it is" when addressing negativity.
