She's been married three times and is currently with her third husband, a former accountant, Jim Skrip, whom she first met during an Egypt tour. During an interview, she revealed what her different marriages taught her.

When describing her first marriage to her music manager, Ramon Hervey II, Vanessa said that her marriage wasn't a top priority. Her kids were, followed by her career, then marriage.

With her second man, former NBA star, Rick Fox, proximity and age barrier were the issues. She was older, and their profession caused them to be miles apart nearly every day.
