LOVE AT FIRST SOUND

World renown tenor Andrea Bocelli was head-over-heels in love with his beautiful wife Veronica moments after their meeting. Of course, Bocelli didn't know she was beautiful.

The singer, who has been blind almost from birth, was stunned by her voice, and by the touch of her skin when he shook her hand. He revealed:

"I was struck by her voice and how her skin felt. I sang my first aria for her that night. It was a piece called Occhi Di Fata (Fairy’s Eyes)."

THAT MAGIC MOMENT

Veronica reveals that after Bocelli sang she was sitting alone at one end of the room, and a friend of Bocelli's walked over at his request and asked her to join his table. They spoke for hours, but when Veronica told him she had to go, Bocelli replied:

“Stay. Don’t lose the energy. Don’t lose the moment. Love is something you don’t think about.”

That night, Veronica and Bocelli fell in love with each other, and they were never apart from that moment on. The singer revealed:

"It was the quickest, speediest start, because we moved in with each other that same night. Effectively the marriage began when we met."

DEALING WITH THE AGE GAP

When they met, Bocelli was 44, and Veronica was just 18, but the tenor was unphased by the 25 year age difference. The tenor explained:

"Big age gaps are a tradition in my family – my own father and mother have one. Plus, I am very religious, and age difference is something you see a lot in biblical marriages."

LINKED BY LOVE AND MUSIC

Love and music are the bonds that unite the couple. They share not just a passion for each other, but a passion for music. Veronica has since then become Bocelli's manager, negotiates his contacts and deals with the day-to-day decisions pertinent to his colossal musical career.

WELCOMING THEIR DAUGHTER

In 2012, 10 years after they first met, Veronica and Bocelli welcomed their daughter Virginia. Bocelli, Veronica, and Virginia live in Tuscany, in the seaside town of Forte dei Marmi, where his ex-wife Enrica Cenzatti and their two children also reside.

Enrica and Bocelli met in 1992, and share two children, Amos, 25, and Matteo, 23. The couple was separated in 2002 when Bocelli met Veronica. In 2014, Bocelli and Veronica married in a romantic ceremony at the Sanctuary of Montenero in the coastal town of Livorno.

TOGETHER FOREVER

Bocelli and Veronica have now been together for 18 happy years, and the tenor attributes the solidity of their union and their contentment to their chemistry. He revealed:

“If there’s chemistry between two people, then there is poetry, there is harmony, there is mutual understanding — there is love; if not, nothing.”

The place where that chemistry most matters, and where it will guarantee a long-lived and successful relationship is in the bedroom, Bocelli asserts. He said:

“If the bedroom door opens the world to something beautiful and interesting, then love will last. If the bedroom door opens onto something that’s boring or uninteresting, it won’t last.”

It looks as if Bocelli's marriage to veronica is rich in love, poetry, chemistry, and of course music. The man who has been described as having the most beautiful voice in the world had the rare joy of singing a duet with his sons, and who knows...Soon, little Virginia may reveal that she inherited her father's talent for music too.
