People: Ryan Seacrest Donates $1m to Help COVID-19 Relief Efforts in NY and LA
Ryan Seacrest donated $1 million to help in the fight against coronavirus, with a significant portion designated for first responders in New York.
In the past few weeks, the world has seen the worst through the coronavirus pandemic, and the best in humanity through the kindness and efforts of several people.
Ryan Seacrest is among the several celebrities who donated a whopping amount in a bid to help the ongoing outbreak that has hit the entire world.

SEACREST DONATES A MILLION
The 45-year-old “Live with Kelly and Ryan” host donated $1 million to aid in relief efforts in New York and Los Angeles, among which $750,000 is designated to first responders. Seacrest said:
“New York and Los Angeles are very special places to me, and so I wanted to do something in the immediate to give back in these unprecedented times.”

There are nearly two million confirmed cases of the coronavirus around the globe, with America being the hardest-hit country.
New York alone has the highest number of infected individuals compared to other countries in the world, with nearly 200,000 cases.

Hollywood couple Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively also pledged $1 million to Food Banks Canada and Feeding America to help those who needed basic necessities for survival.
“After seeing a new report about first responders sleeping in their cars in New York to avoid putting their loved ones at risk, I wanted to do something to help,” Seacrest added.
The $750,000 allocated for frontline health workers will go to their apartment housing and food for the coming six weeks.

KELLY RIPA AND MARK CONSUELOS DONATE A MILLION
Seacrest’s co-host, Kelly Ripa, also took the initiative and reportedly donated $1 million together with her husband, Mark Consuelos.
The host and her family have been observing self-isolation in their home, and she continues the show through video calls with Seacrest.
In one of their episodes, Ripa revealed that she was not on speaking terms with two of her kids as they refused to hug her amid the virus outbreak.
The 49-year-old mom was a bit emotional as she shared that she herself misses her parents and longs to hug them.
CELEBRITIES WHO DONATED AMID THE OUTBREAK
Seacrest and Ripa are among the many celebrities and high-profile personalities around the globe who have donated large sums amid the global pandemic.
Donatella Versace and her daughter Allegra Versace gave 200,000 euros to support a hospital in Italy, which is currently the third country with the most number of cases.
Hollywood couple Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively also pledged $1 million to Food Banks Canada and Feeding America to help those who needed basic necessities for survival.
Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation also donated $5 million to several organizations, while tennis star Roger Federer gave one million Swiss Francs to help families in Switzerland.
