The New York Yankees player came through the ranks and first played in the minor league before making his MLB debut in 2015. Since his first season, he has proven himself an invaluable asset to the Yankees and recently signed a contract worth $40 million.
Away from his career, Severino also has everything going to plan on the homefront. The 26-year-old pitcher is married to Rosmaly Severino, and the two share two daughters.
LUIS SEVERINO'S PERSONAL LIFE
Severino has been with his wife, Rosmaly, for several years, and the couple finally tied the knot in 2019. The event was an elegant ceremony that was well attended by family and friends of the couple.
Rosmaly looked stunning in her wedding gown and was complemented by her husband, who equally looked handsome in his three-piece suit. The couple had their two daughters, Channel and Abigail, supporting them as they exchanged vows.
The professional baseball player and his wife welcomed their first daughter, Channel in 2008, while their second daughter was born in 2015. Back in February, Channel celebrated her 12th birthday, and her proud dad took to his Instagram to wish his daughter a happy birthday.
Severino hosted a big party for Channel and took to his Instagram page to post a series of pictures of his beautiful daughter on her birthday. He shared the photos alongside the caption:
"happy birthday to my big girl channel, had a great birthday today."
The MLB star and his wife, Rosmaly, form a strong partnership, and they are very involved in raising their two daughters. Despite being together for over a decade, the couple has managed to keep their love strong, and they do everything together.
The couple runs a foundation together, "The Luis Severino Foundation," and Rosmaly serves as the CEO. The foundation has been involved in a lot of charitable activities back in the Dominican Republic.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the current MLB season had to be postponed, and the New York Yankees pitcher is currently taking the time to self-isolate with his family.
LUIS SEVERINO'S CAREER
Severino signed for the New York Yankees back on December 26, 2011, as an international free agent. He was 17 at the time and had shown enough talent to convince the MLB team to sign him to their roster.
He was immediately drafted to the junior teams, where he began to build his profile as one of the most promising young players in the league.
After impressing in the minor league for a few seasons, Severino made his MLB debut in 2015 against the Boston Red Sox, who are fierce rivals of the Yankees.
In the seasons that have followed, the New York Yankees right-hander has established himself as one of the important players on the team. But several niggling injuries have hampered Luis Severino's Yankees career.
Earlier in the year, the player suffered a season-ending injury. The player partially tore the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, and after seeing several doctors, the verdict was that Severino would have to undergo Tommy John surgery.
Severino had the surgery done in February, and the Yankees confirmed that the player also had an existing bone chip removed from the injured elbow during the operation.
The player is currently back home rehabilitating from his surgery and trying to get himself in top shape in time for the reopening of the MLB season.
