Amy Schumer's Son Gene Virtually Makes His 1st Appearance on 'Today'
Amy Schumer's son was the picture of cuteness as he made his "Today Show" debut earlier this week. His smile was too cute to handle.
On Monday, Amy Schumer and husband Chris Fischer joined host Savannah Guthrie for a segment on the "Today Show" to promote the couple's new cooking show on the Food Network.
After speaking about their show, "Amy Schumer Learns to Cook," Guthrie asked about the pair's only son, Gene. To her delight, they brought him on, and he seemed happy to make his virtual tv debut.
Comedian Schumer joked with her son saying, "Be cute! Be cuter! Just get cute for this one interview." Guthrie noted that there was just no way for the tot to get any cuter.
Gene, who just turned one year old, came on wearing a big smile, rosy cheeks and had lots of energy as he moved between his parents throughout the segment.
When asked what he's up to these days, Schumer revealed that her son does a lot of clapping and walking around. She added: "Yesterday he was collecting pine cones and, I'll say it, he was hoarding them."
The group got a good laugh out of that. "Today" co-host Hoda Kotb also jumped in to tell the little one hello. She wanted to know what Gene's parents typically call him.

Schumer went through a long list of nicknames they use for the baby boy. She also jokingly apologized for naming him Gene Attell Fischer at first, before changing it back in April.
At the time, Schumer and her husband finally realized that the name sounded like "genital fissure" when a friend's mom pointed it out. The boy's middle name was renamed after Schumer's father.
The one-year-old celebrated his birthday last week with some toys, a fake crown, and a decorative blue ribbon, as seen in the post that Schumer shared on his big day.
The actress also posted a heartwarming photo of her and Gene enjoying a nap together when the toddler was younger. "I'm really glad it was you," wrote Schumer in the caption.
Amid the coronavirus-induced quarantine, Gene's parents are getting a lot of time to bond with him. In early April, Gene and his dad had the sweetest father-son moment while watching a movie.
The two were viewing 2009's "Fantastic Mr. Fox." Little Gene was entranced by the screen but made sure to give his dad some attention by playing with his nose.
Schumer noted it was her son's first time watching a movie in the caption. We wonder if Gene was just as interested in seeing himself on camera on the "Today Show."
