Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry recently celebrated their second wedding anniversary. According to a source, the duchess made sure this milestone would be remembered.
Speaking to “People” magazine, a source explained how Meghan and Harry "always give each other incredibly romantic gifts." In September 2019, Meghan made her husband's birthday extra special by bringing back memories of a trip to Africa.
The couple went to the continent in 2016 when they first started dating. The insider shared: “Meghan recreated their Botswana camping adventures in their backyard."
THEIR VISIT TO BOTSWANA
The place allegedly “means so much to them,” especially to Harry. That is why Meghan, 38, recreated “that happy place” for him on his birthday.
The informant claimed that the duchess went as far as setting up a tent, adding sleeping bags, and cooked dinner in their own “Botswana where they fell in love." In their 2017 engagement interview, the couple shared how they’d visited Africa together after just two dates in London.
CAMPING IN AFRICA
At the time, the pair had just met in the summer of 2016. Harry, 35, recalled how they’d "camped out with each other under the stars” for five days.
In 2017, the royal couple returned to Botswana to assist Dr. Mike Chase who heads Elephants Without Borders. For their second anniversary, the duo "both gave each other gifts based on 'cotton,'” adding:
“Undoubtedly, it was a very creative and romantic gesture as all their gifts are to one another."
CELEBRATING THEIR ANNIVERSARY
Harry and Meghan are currently living in Los Angeles with their son Archie, 1. Another source claimed they spent their May 19 anniversary peacefully after putting their son to bed.
A SPECIAL EVENING TOGETHER
The couple allegedly “cooked together and enjoyed a romantic meal.” The pair also “spent the evening reminiscing about the amazing experiences they’ve had together and going through all their old photos.”
HARRY’S SONG FOR MEGHAN
On their wedding day, Harry made it memorable by choosing a special musical piece for her to walk down the aisle to. George Frideric Handel’s “Eternal Source of Light Divine” was performed by Welsh soprano Elin Manahan Thomas for Meghan.
MEGHAN’S DAD FAILED TO ATTEND WEDDING
She recalled: “It really is so special for us and I think it’s one of those things we’ll treasure forever.” The wedding was almost a disaster when Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, failed to attend to walk her down the aisle.
BEING CLOSE TO FRIENDS
They include Oprah Winfrey, George and Amal Clooney, Serena Williams, and more.
