Shamari is a
. She started her career in music in the 1990s when she joined Natina Reed and Brandi Williams and formed the girl group Blaque.
It is reported, the trio's debut album made over 1.5 million in sales. The success of their group earned them the title of Billboard's fourth-best new artist in 1999.
She has a close relationship with the late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes from TLC. Left Eye helped discover Blaque and was a mentor to Shamari and her group members. On April 25, 2020, she paid tribute to her on the anniversary of her death, Shamari wrote:
"It's a bittersweet day, especially with what's going on in the world...But today I would like to remember my dear Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes."
In 2000 Shamari ventured into acting and made a cameo in "Bring It On." She played the role of one of the members of the East Compton Clovers cheerleading squad named Lava.
Three years later, she scored another acting role in the movie "Honey," which starred Jessica Alba. Shamari made a brief appearance in a scene where she played herself.

In 2018, she was cast on season 11 of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta." On the show, Shamari shared with the women that she and Ronnie had explored an open relationship while they married. She admitted that it was a difficult time in their marriage, but she was not ashamed of her past.
According to Bravo, Shamari left the "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" after only one season for personal reasons. In 2018, she and Ronnie formed the group "Me and Mari, "and released s single titled, "Love Comes Through."
After Blaque had split in the early 2000s, their bandmate, Natina, died in a car accident in 2012. However, Brandi and Shamari continue to perform together today.
