Carrie Underwood Cannot Believe It Has Been 15 Years Since Her 'American Idol' Win
On Monday, Carrie Underwood’s fans took to social media to celebrate her “American Idol” victory anniversary. The country musician couldn’t believe that it was more than a decade since she partook in the singing competition.
This week Underwood, 37, celebrated the 15th anniversary of her 2005 “American Idol” win. She paid tribute to the day by sharing a fan-made video that outlined her career milestones since winning the singing competition.
In the caption of her post, the singer wrote: "WOW, I cannot believe it’s been 15 years since my @americanidol win!!!” She confessed that it had been “an incredible ride” since and she wouldn’t be where she is without her fans.

Underwood also thanked them for the “sweet video!!” Her other fans were thrilled with the video and also celebrated the major milestone with the star.
“HAPPY 15 YEARS!”
One fan wrote on Twitter: “Thank you for sharing your life with us Carrie!!!” Someone else noted: “Happy 15 years! ...You have truly changed the lives of so many people.”
SHARING HER TALENT
A third person added: “It came up on my facebook memories today… my fav singer ever.” While someone else only had gratitude stating: “Thank you for sharing your incredible talent with us.”
FANS RECALL THE DAY
A fifth person shared: “I remember being so anxious all day waiting for the show that evening. My mom and I were ecstatic when Ryan said your name!” Many others also responded on the post to share their memories and to honor the day.
RETURNING TO IDOL IN 2019
In 2019, Underwood returned to the “American Idol” stage. She thrilled the audience by performing her hit song “Southbound” during the show's season finale.
RECALLING THE 2005 PERFORMANCE
The country musician also took the time to share memories from her time as an alum. She told Ryan Seacrest, the show’s host, that she recalled “being horrified, scared, nervous, excited, all of the above.”
THE 14TH ANNIVERSARY
Last year, the star also paid tribute to the 14th anniversary of her “American Idol” victory. She took to Instagram where she posted a throwback photo of herself when she was only 22 on the show.
WINNING “AMERICAN IDOL”
During the fourth season, Underwood was crowned the show’s winner by judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson. At the time, the star was pictured just as she burst into happy tears from her win.
REFERENCING HER HIT SONG
She hilariously captioned the post noting: “It’s true when I say that ‘you can’t cry pretty.'” The singer was referencing, “Cry Pretty,” the name of her first single from her sixth studio album of the same name.
THE RUNNER-UP
In 2005, the seven-time Grammy Award winner managed to defeat Southerner Bo Bice to win the coveted prize. The Oklahoma native was able to get more viewer votes than runner-up Bice.
WINNING A RECORDING CONTRACT
As part of her winnings, Underwood received a record contract. While in tears, she was able to thank everyone before expressing her joy with a song.
The star reprised the song “Inside Your Heaven,” which she and Bice both performed during the final round.
