Kate A. Shaw is the wife of MSNBC commentator Chris Hayes, best known as the host of “All In.” They have been married for over a decade and share three kids.
Born in February 1979, Chris is one of the most recognized faces of MSNBC when it comes to talking about politics. The journalist has been covering that topic for nearly 20 years already.
Kate is, in fact, Chris’ first and only romantic relationship.

CHRIS HAYES’ ROAD TO FAME
His most successful project has been “All In with Chris Hayes,” a weekday news and opinion show that has been on-air since April 2013. Apart from that, he hosts a podcast for the same network titled “Why Is This Happening?”
Chris’s success and fame are the results of years of hard work. After graduating from Brown University in Rhode Island, he moved to Chicago to give his dream of working in theaters a try.
Once there, he served as the managing director of Walkabout Theater. However, his true passion was being a writer, so he started working as a freelance reporter for the Chicago Reader.
TV journalist Andy Shaw, Chris Hayes’ father-in-law, admitted that Chris had always been cause-oriented, and that writing about social and political topics “kind of crystallized who he was going to be.”
CHRIS’ WIFE, KATE A. SHAW
After that, Chris worked at major news outlets in Washington, DC. His outstanding job attracted the attention of MSNBC, who signed him as a paid part-time contributor after watching a clip of him talking about politics.
At the moment, Chris Hayes is married to Kate A. Shaw, who is currently working as an assistant professor at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City.
Some of the subjects that she teaches include constitutional law, election law, administrative law, and so on. If that wasn’t enough, Kate also serves as co-director of the Floersheimer Center for Constitutional Democracy at the same school.
While the previously mentioned experience is definitely impressive, the highlight of her career so far has been serving in the White House counsel’s office when Barack Obama was the president.
KATE IS THE MOST ACCOMPLISHED PERSON OF THE FAMILY
Chris Hayes is proud of his wife, and he is not afraid of talking about it publicly. He once admitted that Kate was “by far” the most accomplished member of their household.
The couple met at Brown University, where she graduated magna cum laude with a BA in 2001. Kate is, in fact, Chris’ first and only romantic relationship.
Kate A. Shaw and Chris Hayes tied the knot in 2007, and they have been together ever since! Together, they have three children: Ryan Elizabeth, born in November 2011, David Emanuel, born in March 2014, and Anya, born in January 2018.
All their kids are frequently featured on their parents’ social media accounts. One of the cutest posts on Chris and Kate’s Instagram accounts was uploaded on Christmas 2019, and it showed the five members of the Hayes family wearing matching pajamas in front of a fireplace.
KATE A. SHAW AND CHRIS HAYES’ CHILDREN
The couple’s eldest children, David and Ryan, have already appeared in front of the cameras. On a late-March show of “All In,” Chris talked about how the novel coronavirus affected the lives of many people, including his.
After admitting that the silver lining of the entire situation was that he got the chance to spend more time with his family, he called both kids to join him.
Kate A. Shaw’s husband pointed out that it was David’s birthday, and that he couldn’t have a birthday party due to social-distancing measures. Only time will tell if their children choose to follow in Chris’ footsteps and end up working in the television industry.
