Yesterday, “The Way We Were” star took to her Instagram to commemorate her 24th wedding anniversary to Brolin. Alongside a throwback photo of the actress giving a speech on their wedding day while James stood beside her, the 78-year-old wrote:
“There’s no one I’d rather be locked up with than you honey — can’t believe it’s been 24 years together! Happy anniversary.”
Fans rushed to the comments section to congratulate the lovebirds and praise them for being an exemplary couple. Access Online notes that Brolin and Streisand first crossed paths at a party where they were set up and instantly hit off. Before they were together, the pair were in different marriages.
Barbra has revealed in several interviews that one of the secrets to their long-lasting marriage was her ability to learn “how to tell the truth in a way that preserves emotions.”
Barbra was with actor Elliot Gould for eight years, and they welcomed son Jason Gould. On the other hand, James was first married to Jane Cameron Agee and then Jan Smithers — he had a total of three children from both unions.
Good HouseKeeping recalls that the couple had their first date on July 1, 1996, and by November of that year, they began living together.
The duo kept their nuptials in 1998 a secret with only a few stars like Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Kelly Preston, and John Travolta knowing about the ceremony in the actress’ estate in Malibu.

For Brolin, keeping separate bank accounts has helped them stay out of trouble. The couple’s anniversary comes after BBC reported that Barbra offered her support for the late George Floyd’s family.
According to the publication, Floyd’s daughter Gianna shared a photo of the Disney shares gotten for her by Streisand on her Instagram page.
While it’s not sure how many shares the entertainer got for the little girl, the six-year-old heartily thanked Barbra for making her “a Disney stockholder.”
