Matthew McConaughey Is a Proud Husband of 8 Years Already — Meet His Wife Camila Alves

Actor Matthew McConaughey has been married for 8 years to his wife Camila Alves. When the pair met, she didn’t recognize him as the famous star he is because of the way he looked.

Texas native, McConaughey, has been married to Brazilian model Alves for almost 1 decade in 2020. Before hooking up with her; he dated some very famous women.

The actor has been linked to actresses like Ashley Judd, Sandra Bullock, and Penélope Cruz. However, in 2006, things changed for him when he was at the Hyde bar in West Hollywood with Lance Armstrong.

NOT REALIZING WHO HE WAS

Alves recalled the meeting in a previous interview stating: "We had two interactions at the bar." She also confessed:

"The first interaction, I did not know who he was.”

The model revealed how McConaughey had a long beard at the time and a Rasta hat on. Eventually, she realized who he was when she saw him with his long-term friend, Armstrong, and decided to give him a chance and the rest is history.

WHERE WAS ALVES BORN

Alves was born in Brazil but when she was 15 she moved to Los Angeles to visit her aunt. She ended up working as a housekeeper for several years and that’s how she became fluent in English.

I knew she was the one for me when I wanted to keep going on dates with her.

When she was 19, she moved to New York City to pursue a career as a model. She’s since designed her own line of handbags and has appeared on several shows.

Alves has starred as a host on “Kids BBQ Championship” and “Shear Genius.” She also co-owns Yummy Spoonfuls which is an organic food brand for babies and toddlers.

WHEN DID THEY MARRY

McConaughey’s multitalented wife also runs a blog called “Women of Today.” Their small wedding was finally held at their home in Austin on June 9, 2012.

THEIR THREE CHILDREN

The couple lives in Austin where they’re raising their three children. The pair shares two sons Levi and Livingston, and a daughter Vida.

Speaking about how he knew Alves was the right one for him, McConaughey previously said: “I've been wanting to go on a date with her for the last nine years. And not with anybody else."
