Beyoncé's Mom Tina Knowles-Lawson Reveals How Her Daughters Helped Her during the Time of Her Divorce – Inside the Story

Beyonce's mom became emotional as she recalled the support her daughters showed her when they helped her heal after her divorce from her husband of 33 years.

Beyoncé and her sister Solange have always praised their mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, for the close bond they share. She was by their side from the start of their careers, helping make their outfits and style their hair.

However, during an episode of OWN's virtual women's get together called "Girlfriends Check-In," Lawson revealed that her relationship with her daughters had changed over the years. She admitted that as adults, they have also been a mother to her.

Lawson has an active social media presence which she joked has gotten her in trouble with Solange and Beyoncé a few times.

Lawson said her daughters have called her to confront her about her posts on Instagram and warn her to tone it down, which she sometimes does.

She also made a rare confession about how Solange and Beyoncé helped her get through her divorce from Mathew Knowles. Lawson admitted that after 33 years of marriage, she was devasted about ending her marriage. She explained:

"I was like, 'Oh, my God, I failed at this.' [Solange and Beyoncé] let me feel sorry for myself for a short period of time, and then they were like, 'Mama, you're a bad girl.'"

Lawson got visibly emotional as she recalled how Beyoncé and Solange would help her get her mind off her divorce by coming over to watch old movies together and eat ice cream late into the night. As she reflected on that time in her life, Lawson admitted:

"It's just funny how the roles change, and they became my mom and I became the child. That's the great thing about having women."

According to TMZ, Lawson and Knowles' divorce dragged out for almost two years. She first filed for divorce in 2009, a month after a woman filed a paternity suit revealing that he had fathered a child outside of their marriage.

By 2010, they appeared to have reconciled and dropped the divorce filing. However, by the end of 2011, it was finalized. Two years later, Lawson reconnected with her longterm friend, Richard Lawson, and they tied the knot in 2015.

The Lawsons both have children from their previous marriages. The couple's children were all part of their lavish wedding onboard a yacht in Newport Beach, California.

While showing support for the launch of Beyoncé's "Ivy Park" clothing line earlier in the year, Lawson shared a funny story about how she and Richard accidentally wore similar outfits. They both refused to change their looks and the matching couple made headlines that day for their stylish fashion.
