See How Gloria Govan Paid Tribute to Fiancé Derek Fisher on His 46th Birthday
"Basketball Wives Star" Gloria Govan gushes about her fiancé, former NBA star and basketball coach Derek Fisher, to celebrate his 46th birthday with a loving tribute.
On August 9, basketball coach and former player, Derek Fisher turned 46 years old and there was no one more excited to celebrate the special day than his loving fiance, Gloria Govan. Govan headed straight for Instagram with a heartwarming tribute for her fiance which read:
"Literally screaming (because we're thousands of miles apart) HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you @dereklfisher. I wish I was there to celebrate with you, to hug you, hold you, kiss you."

Govan's caption revealed that she and Fisher were apart due to the pandemic and that even though he was "on the other side of the world," social distancing meant nothing. He was worth every mile standing between them.
She wrote that she missed him and encouraged him to keep doing his thing and come back home with a victory. Her touching caption accompanied a stunning photo of the couple. Fisher and Govan were captivated in each other's eyes as they shared a warm embrace. They made a beautiful and perfect couple.
Fisher's birthday is not the only thing that has been affected by COVID-19 when it comes to his relationship with Govan. The lovebirds were hoping to finally say "I do" after waiting for many years, but sadly, things had to be put on hold.
Govan had legal drama with her ex-husband, former NBA player Matt Barnes that got so heated, forcing Fisher to step in with a lawsuit declaration.
In an exclusive with People, Govan revealed the disappointing news about the suspension of their wedding until the coast was clear for celebrations to carry on in earnest. She said:
"It was just based off of what the CDC advised and the current state of affairs. We just felt like it was in everyone's best interest, really."
The development was rather disappointing not just to the couple but to everyone else who had already made arrangements for the event.
They had people traveling in for the wedding, a lot of aunts and uncles who were much older and said to be more susceptible to COVID-19.
They did not want to put anyone at risk and made the tough decision together. Thankfully, people were very understanding and sweet about the postponement.
Of course, the wedding was still on, but in the meantime, everyone needed to be safe and healthy. The anticipated marriage comes about four years after Govan divorced her ex-husband, former NBA player Matt Barnes.
As of 2018, the former spouses were still going at it in court with their highly publicized legal drama over alleged embezzlement of Govan's funds during the marriage.
Things got so heated that Fisher had to step in and file a declaration in Govan's lawsuit against her ex-husband to back her up.
The trio has had a very rocky history entangling all three of them, but after so long, it seems that Govan and Fisher have carried on with their happy relationship, leaving the ugly past behind.
