The most exciting bit of the trailer was a glimpse of the one character the entire fanbase had been waiting to see — Princess Diana.

In the trailer, not much was seen of the Princess, affectionately called the People’s Princess, except for a few brief shots and the one breathtaking scene of her wearing the most iconic wedding dress ever paraded down the aisle in the history of weddings.

Even though viewers could not see anything besides the back view of the legendary wedding dress, Diana briefly appeared in other shots in the teaser as a dark silhouette, a blurry reflection in a mirror, and more views from behind her.

The brief glimpses of actress Emma Corrin, who plays the princess, were all the fans needed to see; enough to make them unsettled at the edge of their seats for the official release date which was revealed at the end of the trailer as November 15.

Prince Charles and Diana went on to get married on July 29, 1981.

Just as the previous seasons before it, season 4 would feature the same actors in the main roles — Olivia Colman would play Queen Elizabeth II, actress Helena Bonham Carter in the role of Princess Margaret, and actor Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip.

Princess Anne would be portrayed by actress Erin Doherty, the Earl of Snowden would be played by Ben Daniels, Prince Charles by actor Josh O’Connor, and the Queen Mother by actress Marion Bailey.

Corrin was not the only newly-introduced character in the coming season. Emmy award-winner Gillian Anderson was another new cast member who would portray Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

Corrin’s character, Princess Diana, was both a delicate and extremely important role to play. Diana was Princess of Wales while she was married to Prince Charles.

Diana started dating the Prince in 1977, two years after she became Lady Diana Spencer when her father inherited the title of Earl Spencer.

Prince Charles and Diana went on to get married on July 29, 1981, despite the 12-year age gap between them, when she wore the iconic wedding dress recreated in the series. The royal couple had two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, before the couple got divorced in 1996.

Princess Diana was adored by millions for her kindness and humanitarian efforts, earning her the nickname, the “People’s Princess.” She passed away in a car crash in 1997, leaving a legacy that continued to be spoken of decades after.
