Songwriter Valerie Simpson celebrated her 74th birthday on August 26. On the special day, her friend Stephanie Mills made sure that she felt loved and appreciated with a loving tribute.

Mills took to Instagram to share a photo of herself and Simmons from an event. The ladies looked stunning as they flashed their billion-dollar smiles for the camera.

As for Mills, she is a Grammy-winning singer and a talented actress who is best known for her disco hits and her role as Dorothy in "The Wiz."

Her career kicked off as a singer and an actress when she was merely nine years old. In 1975, she shot to fame with her role as Dorothy in "The Wiz" on Broadway.

The 1980s was her decade as she scored one hit after another. Her song "Never Knew Love Like This Before" earned her a Grammy in 1981.

Career aside, Mills famously dated Michael Jackson in the 1970s. According to her, she went out with him for about a year and a half. She remembers him as a kind, compassionate, and loving person.

Mills has been lauded for her music for decades, but last year, she made headlines for slamming Nicole Curran on Instagram after she leaned over Beyoncé during the NBA finals. She also slammed singer Sam Smith when he shared that he was not a fan of Michael Jackson.
