Gladys Knight's husband, William McDowell recently took to social media to share a throwback photo that featured himself and Knight in matching outfits.

Gladys Knight's husband, William McDowell, recently took his fans down memory lane when he shared a throwback shot of himself and Knight rocking matching outfits. He captioned the post,

"When life was simple."

In the comments section, McDowell's followers gushed over how adorable the couple looked. It was apparent they all believed the couple was made for each other. One fan wrote,

"Beautiful couple, you complement each other."

It's not hard to see why McDowell is in love with Knight; the woman is as close to a legend as any can be in the music industry. She started singing alongside her siblings at the early age of eight.

Knight grew up as a member of the band, The Pips and the group started out as R&B singers. She left the group in 1989 but kept on performing and recording as a solo artist. She crafted a lasting legacy, and today, she is remembered fondly as the Empress of Soul, rightly so as she has amassed a total of seven Grammy Awards.

Knight miscarried the pregnancy but she and Newman went on to welcome two more children together.

Knight is currently married to McDowell, a corporate consultant. They have been together since April 12, 1997. The famous singer's son, Shanga, gave her away in a ceremony that took place at the seaside. It was held with 80 relatives and friends in attendance.

Prior to her marriage to McDowell, Knight had made the walk down the aisle a total of three times and she is mother to three children.

Her first husband was James Newman, and they were married between 1960 and 1973. When they tied the knot, Knight had been 16 and pregnant. Knight miscarried the pregnancy but she and Newman went on to welcome two more children together.

Newman became a drug addict and allegedly ditched the family four years after his wedding with Knight who stopped touring so she could raise the kids. She also separated from Newman; however, they didn't get entirely divorced until years later. He passed away shortly afterward.

A year after their divorce, she found love again with Barry Hankerson. They had one child together but the union didn't last long and the pair divorced in 1979.

Les Brown was Knight's third husband. They wed in 1995 and divorced after two years. Knight seems to have found Mr. Right this time and if their social media posts about each other are any indication, they have no intention of ending their blissful relationship.
