NBC's 'Surface' and 'The Kids Are All Right' Actor Eddie Hassell Was Shot — Details Here
Eddie Hassell, who was famous for acting on “Surface,” sadly passed away this month. The star died over the weekend after being shot and killed at the age of 30.
According to “TMZ,” Eddie Hassell died after being shot on Sunday morning, November 1, 2020. The actor’s representative confirmed to the publication that the star was killed somewhere in Texas in what seemed to be a carjacking.
Hassell was most well-known for starring on a couple of episodes of NBC's "Surface" where he appeared as Phil Nance. Some other people might recognize him from "Devious Maids" as Eddie Suarez.

Besides those two shows, the late actor also starred on "'Til Death," "The Kids Are All Right," and "Family Weekend." Hassell also appeared on other various series and films throughout his short career.
He featured on "Bones," "2012," "Southland," "Bomb City," "Longmire," "Warrior Road," "Jobs," "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," and many more others. “Bomb City” actually won the audience award in 2017 for Best Narrative Feature at the Dallas International Film Festival.
Hassell’s most recent acting credit was for the 2017 movie, “Oh Lucy!” where he appeared as a waiter. The star wasn’t only an actor in series' and movies but he was also a professional skater and surfer.
He was also an author of the book "Someone Should Tell You: Startling Revelations and Truths to Help You Understand and Improve Your Life." According to the actor’s representative, he was shot in the stomach while outside his girlfriend's apartment.
According to CBSDFW reporter Erin Jones, the Grand Prairie police confirmed the shooting which they revealed happened before 2 a.m. on Sunday. The incident occurred in the 3000 block of West Bardin where the police officer’s performed first aid on the actor.
Hassell was then transported to a hospital where he sadly died. Police have since asked for the public to assist in identifying a suspect and no one has been arrested for the murder yet and it's also unclear what led to the shooting.
Hassell was born on July 16, 1990, in Corsicana, Texas before he moved to Los Angeles at the age of 11. Moving to the new city allowed him to start his acting career with a few roles.
He started off by acting on “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip,” “Southland,” and “Joan of Arcadia.” His role in the series “Devious Maids” was actually a reoccurring one for the late actor.
Another actor that we lost this year was the legendary Scotland-born Sean Connery. The first James Bond star died in his sleep while in the Bahamas after being unwell for quite some time.
Connery, who had retired a couple of years back, was 90-years-old when he died. Many stars have since taken to social media to pay tribute to the late star who passed away on October 31, 2020.
