Meghan Markle has become the first Royal in modern history to vote in the U.S presidential election. This comes a few months after the Duchess and her husband, Prince Harry, stepped down from royal duties and relocated to the United States.

The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle has made history as the first member of the modern royal family to vote in the United States Presidential Election.

Speaking to PEOPLE, a source close to the Duchess revealed that she would be casting her vote like many others across the United States.

However, the source did not state whether Markle voted early via mail or will go out to vote in a local polling booth near her Santa Barbara home.

In recent months, Markle has openly urged and encouraged people to exercise their electoral rights by voting, and it appears she is putting her words into action.

During a public appearance in September, Markle described the election as the most important election of this lifetime. She added that by voting, people put their values into action and ultimately make their voices heard.

A friend of Markle confirmed that the Duchess and her husband, Prince Harry, have a keen interest in the election and have been closely watching events associated with it.

Duchess has done things quite differently and can be said to have defied several royal protocols.

With this, there is a high chance that Markle and Prince Harry will watch the election coverage and results from their Santa Barbara home.

In May 2018, Markle tied the knot with Prince Harry and was immediately saddled with royal responsibilities and numerous strict protocols.

However, over the years, the Duchess has done things quite differently and can be said to have defied several royal protocols as she attempts to create an identity for herself.
